Commonly asked questions
On Admissions
Q:   Are admissions at Federal Institute of Science and Technology entrance-based or merit-based?
A:

Yes, entrance-based admissions are the main criteria for B.Tech programs, as passing JEE Main or comparable national/state exams is required. Merit and admissions chances are determined by rank on these tests.
Prior to being admitted, students must take and pass national engineering admission exams such as JEE Main. The institute determines the qualifying cut-off scores. Therefore, passing the eligibility test for admission is crucial.
After that, admissions are determined by the entrance exam results' All India ranking. Only the students' JEE Main merit rankings are used to fill seats.

In addition to admission ranking, the 12th standard percentage may also be taken into consideration for seats under reserved quota or at the institute level. However, the determining factor for the majority of seats is entrance exam merit.

Q:   What is the seat intake for B.Tech at Federal Institute of Science and Technology?
A:

These are the B.Tech programme seat intakes, which are based on data from the Federal Institute of Science and Technology website:

The total intake for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is 120 seats.

The total intake for Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is sixty seats.

The total intake for Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) is sixty seats.

Total Intake for Civil Engineering: 60 seats

The total intake for mechanical engineering is 120 seats.

Data Science and artificial intelligence: total enrollment of 60 seats
In addition, 30 seats are available for lateral entry admission to B.Tech programs in the second year.

Q:   How can I get admission to B.Tech course at FISAT?
A:

The mode of Federal Institute of Science and Technology course admissions is online. Admission to various courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores. The accepted entrance exams are CAT,  CMAT, KMAT KERALA, and others. Candidates applying through the CAT must first register for the CAT exams. It has a well-structured campus and a good campus life.
Placements: 90% of students get placed in the college. The highest package is 9 LPA and the lowest package is 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, etc. The average package is 4.5 LPA. It selects a majority of students from our college.
Infrastructure: It has a good infrastructure with all facilities. FISAT offers modern infrastructure with smart classrooms, well-equipped labs, and Wi-Fi connections. It also has a central library. Hostels are good, safe, clean, and 24x7 security concerns for both boys and girls.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified. The course curriculum is relevant. It is not very difficult to face exams. The pass percentage is 80-95%. Faculty members are supportive and highly educated. The course curriculum blends CS and design focusing on practical skills. Exams are moderate with regular internals, labs, and projects.

The real story of FISAT - Learning, campus life, and opportunities.
Placements: I am studying B.Tech in computer science and design at FISAT College in Angamaly. The college is good, but sometimes classes feel long and boring. Placements are decent, with many students getting jobs in big companies like TCS and Wipro. The highest package offered is 6 LPA. The lowest salary is 3 LPA, and the average salary is around 4 LPA - 5 LPA. A good number of students got internships in top companies. Overall, I am happy with my experience here, but there's always room for improvement, especially on campus facilities.
Infrastructure: The college has good Wi-Fi. Our labs are okay with all the computers. But sometimes they do not work well. Classrooms are big, but some need more fans. The library is nice with many books, but it's a little small. Hostels are fine, but sometimes the rooms are hot. The food in the mess is okay, not great. The canteen has snacks, which are nice. The medical facilities are good with a small clinic. For sports, we have a playground, but it's not used much. Overall, it's okay, but could be better.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified. But sometimes they go too fast in class. They know the subject well, but some could explain it better. The course curriculum is okay. It covers a lot but sometimes feels too much to handle. It's good, but could make students more ready for the industry. The semester exams are tough, and I find them hard to prepare for. The pass percentage is good. Most of the students pass, but some fail in tough subjects. Overall, it's not easy. If you study hard, you will pass.
Other: I chose this course because I like computers and design. The best things about my course are learning coding, design, and getting to work on projects. I also like the labs and working on real problems. I wish the course would have more practical work and internships. The events and fests are fun, we get to meet a lot of people. The campus crowd is friendly, and the surroundings are nice. But it's a little far from the main city. Connectivity is okay, and there are scholarships if you do well. I also enjoy extracurricular activities like sports and clubs.

Overall, it has a good campus with every element students need.
Placements: In our department, placement is an attractive part, and 90% of our students get placed at good companies. Many good and reputed companies visit here for placements. This college provides us with many more placement opportunities. They even prepare us for placement interviews. Our seniors got placed at good companies.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are overall good. The food provided is also nice apart from some food that can be changed otherwise it might be good. The hostel provides every facility we require. Wardens are also good and help us. The hostel provides us with hot as well as cool water. Clean toilets and bathrooms are provided. Our rooms are also well-maintained. Cleaning staff members are also too good and maintain the hostel nicely.
Faculty: Teachers provide some good classes, including previous paper discussions. Semester exams are difficult. Our faculty members help a way more to not to fail in any subjects. Faculty members here are well-experienced. Our HOD also helps us to improve a lot. They even gave us remedial classes to improve on difficult topics.
Other: Apart from academics, events, and cultural fests are also mind-blowing. At our campus, we really enjoy all of it.

Good infrastructure, but dissatisfied due to no programs. Placement was average.
Placements: The percentage of students placed in the Mechanical Engineering department is only above 20%. The highest and lowest average packages offered in the Mechanical Engineering branch are between 2-3 LPA. Companies like IBM, TCS, Infosys, and Wipro visit for recruitment. More than 50% of students in the Mechanical branch secure internships.
Infrastructure: The hostel and library have Wi-Fi facilities. Labs are equipped with advanced machines. An ambulance is available for emergencies. The mess food is average. The college excels in sports but is average in games. The canteen food is also average. The hostel facilities are good, with one room accommodating three members. The college library is well-stocked with books from all departments.
Faculty: Teachers are of good quality, helpful, and well-knowledgeable. The course curriculum is not very relevant now. The pass percentage is above 75%. Some teachers are good and helpful. The syllabus is not relevant anymore and does not make students industry-ready. The semester exams are not very difficult.
Other: Mechanical engineering is a core branch. The syllabus needs improvement. Events and fests are very few, and the campus is crowded.

A quick review of FISAT - Federal Institute of Science and Technology.
Placements: Almost 78 students secured placements above 7 LPA and the average stood at 5 LPA. The highest offered package was 15+ LPA. Top recruiting companies like TCS, CTS, SAP, Cadence, Schneider, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, and ESAF visit our college to recruit students. From 76 companies, we got more than 480 offers.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available on campus and in hostels. College buses are available for transport on almost all the nearby routes. Classrooms are digital. There are seminar halls and project labs specific to all departments. A psychology clinic is there with a regular clinic.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, and some are post-doctorate. They are really helpful and supportive. Some faculty members are too good but some are too bad. Overall, they provide a good experience, teach well, and clear our doubts. They also provide remedial classes.
Other: FISAT is one of the best colleges in Kerala for sports. In almost all the university championships, FISAT is there on the podium. There is a 3 crore worth cricket pitch, football ground, etc. Extracurricular activities are held, but not during class times.

I am satisfied with my college. There are good placements every year.
Placements: Our college is visited by many companies every year. They offer better packages. Many offers were given to students and many students got placed every year. The highest package was Rs. 2,00,000 per annum. TCS and Infosys were the major companies that visit every year. Mainly students were placed according to their programming skills and problem handling capacity to find the appropriate solution to the problem.
Infrastructure: We were provided with a very good classroom which contains a visualizing projector which the teachers can present any notes easily. It contains digital boards which can be used as monitors also we can write on them using specialized pens. it also contains a large number of desks and benches. Classrooms were very clean. Hostels also were clean and tidy. In each room, 3 students can stay. Rooms were provided with greater facilities. Hostel food was very tasty, clean, and pure.
Faculty: We were provided with very high-class educated teachers. Teachers were the main source of education. They provided us with information regarding the syllabus, topics, and coding. Course curriculum was absolutely relevant. Semester exams were hard as it is important. We have to prepare well for semester exams.
Other: I am doing my major in the EC department. I chose this department because I love to do jobs in the electronics field.
