B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering - Batch of 2027
3.8
It has a really good hostel and infrastructure.
Placements: About 10 students get placed. The top recruiting company is L&T. Placements are comparatively low here. Students with above-average CGPA get placements. In overall departments, there are placements. But compared to CET and GECT, placements here are low.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi in the college and hostels. There are required labs with good facilities. The quality of food available at the hostel is great. Facilities and qualities of the hostel are impressive. The most important thing is the hostel provides quality food.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful for studies. The pass percentage is gradually increasing now, which is good for students and the college. Teachers help during the lab sessions and clear doubts. Some faculty members are not much helpful, but most of them are helpful.
Other: I chose this course because it has great scope for the future. The campus does not conduct many events or programs. There are many clubs that are helpful for students like IEEE, ISTE, CALYPSO, etc.

My dream college-GCE Kannur.
Placements: Only about 20 to 30 students get placed this year. In the electrical branch, L&T was the core company and came with a package of 6 LPA. Internships are done by the students themselves in the nearby keltron and substation. Mainly, we are placed in software roles, like developing and testing, which are very rare.
Infrastructure: Our college infrastructure is one of the best thing. And it was also one of the reason I joined college. It was well structured with labs, departments, auditoriums, stadiums, etc. Our hostels are some of the best hostel with hygiene food and all other facilities. Our canteen food was also very tasty and cheap. It was with quality food at cheap price.
Faculty: In most of the departments, experienced, capable faculty members are there. Their teaching experience and care for each student make it unique. Every faculty member is well-behaved and doesn't hesitate to teach anyone. They guide us in a proper way in our project and seminar too. In our final year project, we were able to work without any difficulty because of the facilities in the lab and the lab assistance we got. Semester exams are quite tough, although we get a pass percentage of 70% or above in each semester.
Other: I chose electrical engineering because it was very challenging course among all the engineering streams. My course helped me develop many technical skills that will help me in future career. Our college hosts various IEEE, ISTE, etc. events. Also in very 4 years, we are having a national-level tech fest.

Review of Government College of Engineering Kannur.
Placements: I am currently pursuing a B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The last batch that passed out had a placement rate of 75%, mostly in the software and IT fields. Core placements were considerably low considering the ongoing recession. Maxlinear, Bosch, etc. were the major core companies that visited us. The maximum CTC in our department was 9 LPA and the average CTC was 4.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our college boasts a really impressive infrastructure, even when compared with the nearby engineering colleges in the Malabar region. It was commented as having labs of the level equal to IITs and NITs by the team visiting us from the NBA accreditation team.
Faculty: Our course and college come under the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. And it is almost on par with the engineering curriculum of major institutions in India and abroad. The faculty at GCEK is highly qualified for all departments. Due to the active involvement of students and the Student Union, some revolutionary changes are being made to the curriculum and study patterns.
Other: Campus life is something that you would hold close to your heart if you passed out of this college. The college union and the various student clubs are very vibrant and regularly host various events involving the students. The college also has supporting infrastructure for hosting such events. Explore is a national-level techfest conducted by GCEK that is scheduled to be hosted in 2024. The presence of other colleges nearby, like the NIFT, etc., also helps in networking and making new peers.

Short summary about life at Government College of Engineering, Kannur.
Placements: According to 2021-22 Statistics,294 placements are offered from 30 companies. The recruiters are Infosys, TCS, CTS, Tiger Analytics, Wipro, Travancore analytics, Capgemini, Mindtree, etc. The highest salary is 7.5 LPA by Tiger Analytics and the average salary package range from 3 to 4.2 LPA. The lowest salary package is 2.1 LPA. The branch which has the highest number of placements is ECE which is considered to have 2 divisions. Followed by ECE the next branches are CSE, EEE, ME, CE, and M.Tech.
Infrastructure: The college has a total area of 75 acres, calm and quiet campus with Wi-Fi facility and the departments have full stacked labs and department libraries. The classrooms have projectors (basically a smart classroom). The hostel is approximately 900m from the college at a walkable distance. The quality of food is amazing and sometimes depends on the mess secretaries. The hostel mess is run by students themselves, students decide the menu. So the food is convenient with sufficient drinking water amenities, a volleyball court, and a block running with once a blue moon Wi-Fi connection. The college supports all kinds of sports activities. The college also has a well-equipped gym.The college is a hub of sports activities like football, cricket, etc.
Faculty: All the faculty are well-qualified with a Masters's degree from premier institutes like IITs, NITs, Gecs etc., But the curriculum is total trash. According to new norms, a semester is cut short into 4 months with a finger countable semester break. The syllabus is more theoretical than practical. The pass percentage of college is 52.88% (12th position among colleges).
Other: The campus is fully active with organizations like IEEE, ISTE, IEDC, SHE, ROBOCEK, FOSS CLUB, TINKERHUB, etc. Other non-technical clubs like catchlight (photography), Rhapsody (music), dance club, literary society, NSS, etc., are there for making students efficient. Many students have won the grace hopper scholarship, Carolyn lyton scholarship, rem scholarship, etc.

I am happy to be a student of this college. Our college has all the necessary facilities.
Placements: More than 200 students were placed in the well-reputed companies. Many of my seniors got placed in TCS, MRF, and Huawei. The highest salary package was 12 lacs per annum, and the minimum was 4 LPA. The necessary training was given to the students before the interview.
Infrastructure: There is 24×7 Wi-Fi facility on the campus. The labs are the necessary equipment. There are qualified teachers, incubation centre, robotics club, and IEEE club activities. The hostel rooms and the bathrooms are clean. The canteen on the campus is good, and the food is good over there. No difficulties were faced regarding anything during my period of study. The necessary sports equipment are available with a big ground.
Faculty: Our college has well and highly qualified faculty members with most of them having PhD. 90% of the faculty members are PhD holders. They use smart boards and the labs to have better teaching and learning experience. The regular practical sessions were given for all the subjects. There are tech fest, iste state convention, IEEE Invictus, Egrants and MCM scholarship, sports, arts, and melange on the campus.

Infrastructure: The college has a fantastic infrastructure with high-teach classrooms a great central library and the hotel facilities are really good with a really great food and canteen is really cheap and provides good food and there is a huge ground and great facilities for playing sports.
Faculty: The faculty members are really great most of them has a Ph.D. with some having M.Teach and they are all graduated from top nits or iits the curriculum is also good and we follow the 2024 scheme of ktu and the curriculum is great and makes the students industry ready.

A ecofriendly college with a good hostel.
Placements: About a 60% of students were placed from my course. Schneider Electric and maruti suzuki are some of the major companies that had conducted their placement programmes in our college. Most of the student got their internship in the Kerala State Electricity Board and got their opportunity to study about it.
Infrastructure: Our college offers the latest technology in the labs and every classroom is a SMART classroom. Each department has their own library and also there is a main college library also. The hostel is very neat and clean, the food provided in mess is good and they offer a great interest in sports and games.
Faculty: The faculty members of the course are excellent in their teaching as they have a long experience in this career. Each one of them are highly qualified individuals and they give their best for the better of their students. The semester exams are quite tough but because of the help and guidance of the teachers we can give our best in these exams.
Other: In the modern world I believe that my course has a better chance in opportunity and scope so that I can achieve a good standard of living. The campus is cheerfull and we have lots of fests and games. The ambience is greatful and its so peaceful around the campus.

Campus life is very good but.
Placements: Due to recession. The placement offer graph is having a dip. My college is having a pretty average placement offers average at 5LPA. The highest package last year was 18LPA. Companies like L&T, Tata Elxsi, Qburst, MRF, TCS are the top recruiters. This year recruitment process is ongoing. In my department it is expected to get a 40% placement.
Infrastructure: Canteen food is worth the price. College Wi-Fi is available. Labs are not upto date but it is adequate. Sports and games are well encouraged and participation in university level games is encouraged. There is new block for library and department libraries having pretty decent facilities.
Faculty: Electrical and Electronics Department is very strict in academics. Faculty members are helpful and knowledgeable but overload of works is what you have to suffer. Course curriculum is of course outdated one. Not making students industry ready. Semester exams diffi level is moderate.
