I am absolutely satisfied with my college life.
Placements: The college is located in Salem, which is one of the tier 2 cities in the state. The company's exposure is a little bit small. Placements are very good. Many companies visit the college to hire students. In the last 3 consecutive years, 100% of placements have been provided in my department.
Infrastructure: All facilities are available here. The infrastructure is good, but it is a government college. Free Wi-Fi is available, and the labs are good. Classrooms have smartboards. The department library has all the books, and the digital library has an ocean of books. Food is average for both boys and girls. 6 blocks are available for the UG boys' hostel. For 3rd-year and 4th-year students, single rooms are available. The hostel has average facilities. The canteen is good. A big sports ground is here, and all games are available here. An indoor stadium is also present here.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful and well-qualified. The lab technicians are knowledgeable. The course curriculum is more related to the industry norms, and it is easy to get placed. Semester exams are of an easy to difficult level and based on the students. The pass percentage is 50%.
Other: The campus is spread over 400 acres with a lush green campus. There are many birds and peacocks. Many events are conducted in the evening semester. There are more than 7 clubs in the college. Scholarships are available. It is 10 minutes away from the heart of Salem city.

My experience at GCE Salem: Pros, cons, and insights.
Placements: 299 out of 438, i.e., 63.3% of students got placed (graduated students). The highest package is about 15 LPA, and the average is about 3.5 LPA-4 LPA, and the lowest is about 1.5 LPA- 1.8 LPA. The top recruiters are Zoho, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, etc. The percentage of my courses is 100%. 95 out of 95 students got internships and the companies are Hyundai, JSW Steel, Hero Motocorp, etc.
Infrastructure: Since it is a government college, all the infrastructure and facilities required for students are available, such as free Wi-Fi and laboratory. Classrooms are equipped with 6 ceiling fans, and the college library, which has about 50000 books. The hostel is well-equipped with simple furniture, a separate cupboard, a ceiling fan, etc. As for the food, it is all vegetarian food available. As for the sports, we have hockey, cricket, football, and basketball fields separately, and we do have a gymnasium.
Faculty: The faculty are super nice to talk to or interact with. Whether it's the quality of teaching or the very person, everything is good. From the experience of the graduated students or seniors, they did not find it difficult in the industry after they joined. There are two end-term exams, and it is not that difficult. The pass percentage can be around 95%-100%.
Other: Firstly, I chose this course because of my passion for engineering as a whole, not a particular subject. Secondly, I have chosen the course because of my curiosity about mechanical objects. Well, as for the events or fests, there are hardly any. As long as I remember, there has only been one, i.e., departmental fest.

The college gives independency to students.
Placements: The Mechanical Department has a 100 percent placement rate. The highest package is 13.5 LPA. The lowest package is 2.16 LPA. L&T, Sona Comstar, and পেট্রোল are the top companies. Fifty percent of our college students get internships. Our top placement is as a manager in Sona Comstar.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good for the students. It is connected to nature. The buildings are old but in good condition. There is a cafeteria for students and also a store on the campus. The cafe has all the food items. There are two hostels, one for boys and another one for girls. Boys' hostel timing is 6-9, and girls' hostel timing is 6-6. The food quality in the hostel is average. There is also a medical center near the hostel office. There is a huge ground to play on.
Faculty: The teachers have doctorates, and the teachers are fully knowledgeable, except for some people. But the teachers expect the students' own interest, and then the teachers are friendly on campus. The curriculum is relevant to the subject. It is based on the old syllabus, so it does not make the students ready for the industry. There are semesters every four months. Fifty percent is the minimum passing mark.
Other: I am interested in this course because of my uncle's suggestion. The course is good. The materials and machines are of the old type. If they were of the modern type, it would be useful for all.

A really cost effective college with good environment and absolutely good lecturers.
Placements: Usually, the percentage is about 75-100%. The highest salary is around 30 LPA while average and the lowest are 15 LPA and 5 LPA respectively. Top recruiting companies are Hyundai, Ford, etc. The percentage of students who get internships is about 50-80%. Top roles would be NLC Limited, Steel Plant in Salem, etc.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are well-equipped for their respective department. It's a quiet place, I won't say it's well-equipped for the hostel. But considering the cost, I guess it's enough. For the students, it is the best environment for studies. It's a vegetarian college (don't like that).
Faculty: The lecturers are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. In my opinion, it is the best. It highly depends on students what they can learn from the courses as it will also affect the industries or jobs later. I would rate 8 out of 10 for the semester. It's about 80-100% of the pass percentage.
Other: Generally, I have been interested in electric or electronic devices so I chose EEE. Well, the best thing about EEE is it's really fun and thrilling while learning various aspects of electricity. I don't think so. For me, EEE is enough as it should be. We don't have that much of events going on compared to other colleges.

    My research paradise with Angel.
Placements: Almost 95% of students were placed through campus placements; the rest were not enrolled for placement as they planned for higher education. The highest package stood at 14 LPA from Ford, while the lowest was 3 LPA from Aquagreen with a three-year bond. Most of the companies offered Graduate Engineering Trainee (GET) roles, and some were ready to offer associate-level roles. Companies like TCS, Tech Mahindra, JSW, Tekla Structure, and Nissan played a major role in our placements.
Infrastructure: The college management provides good and commendable facilities like Wi-Fi, a library, and smart classrooms, with well-experienced faculty members. You'll enjoy hostel life, although the hostel food is average; compared to other hostels, it's good for the price. There is no canteen on campus, but there are some shops outside the college.
Faculty: The curriculum is well designed, using both conventional methods to clearly understand core concepts and incorporating modern technology in our final year, where we gain industrial experience. The semester exams are at a moderate level, and the questions focus on understanding, making it easy to clear all the papers if we spend about an hour daily on our topics.
Other: The fest in the college is really awesome and serves as a stress buster for both students and faculty members. Events like the Tamil Mandram, English club function, and department functions provide special relief for students, especially for final-year students.

I have learned and evolved as a better engineer, and college won't restrict you in anything .
Placements: So yes, I am writing this review in May 2024, so our batch placements are going to start in July 2024 and so here I am going to share my senior placement records I know something better about placement because I am volunteering myself as a student placement coordinator. Our college has good placement record for the last few years For 2024, we hit 85% of overall placements and in 2024, Mech and EEE departments attained 100% placements, which is a huge milestone for any government college and Mech hit 100% consecutively in 2023 & 2024. Top recruiters are Larsen and Toubro, Hyundai, Sona comster, Zoho, Delhi TVS, Brakes India, etc. The highest package in college is 15 LPA, as in mech it is 8 LPA, and the lowest package was 2.4 LPA. The overall total average of college will be 4 LPA. Students are getting internship at various prestigious government organizations like NLC limited, steel plant in Salem, aavin, southern railways, NSIC, etc.
Infrastructure: There are many laboratories in my department more than 10 labs, starting from foundry to CNC labs. Our college has every lab which is required by the students and all the labs are in working condition with good potential staff. I am reviewing four stars due to the hostel, In hostel, the food is not too good afternoon is okay too good but hostel is cleaned frequently, three times a week, and we need to take care of our rooms that should be cleaned by them. A health center is available inside the hostel campus, and the ground is a hub for every sports activity in the district. There is a very big crowd, and the college is well known for its cricket. Wi-Fi is available in classrooms and departments and canteen also provides good meals at very affordable price. The library has the required books for our knowledge.
Faculty: The teachers are recruited by the TRB exams so they are skilled professors and most of them hold a doctorate. They teach from scratch and in every semester there is a chance of not covering portions of the last topic At that time, staff may skip important topics and exams are not so tough passing marks are 45% of the first mark; if in a subject the first mark is 90, the passing mark is 41, and the college offers an innovative program under Fab Lab, which is very useful. One person of 50 will be selected from the total college in the 6th semester, and I was the one who chose that program, which is also a great one because it makes engineering practical and boosts entrepreneurship.
Other: So I choose mechanical because I grew up in an environment where my father had a mill shop, so I have a huge interest in machines. The syllabus is old for our batch but our immediate juniors are learning the new syllabus, which is way better than us. There are many fests in colleges. Every department conducts two things in odd semester, inaugurating their association in even semester. The symposium will be held in all departments, and there are 8+ clubs in our college. Every club celebrates a function, and they support us by providing funds to go to other college culturals.
