Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must complete their Class 12 with an aggregate of 60% in Class 12. Moreover, a candidate myst have studied Mathematics and Physics as their compulsory subjects and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Biology as optional subject. Moreover, applicants without Mathematics in Class 12 are eligible to apply for BTech in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics & Bioengineering and BTech + MTech integrated programmes.

The SASTRA University BTech admission process is conducted in two ways. 50% of the seats are filled based on the rank secured in JEE Main. Hence, candidates seeking admission through JEE Main should look out for JEE Main exam dates. For the remaining 50% of seats, the university releases a rank list based on merit in Class 12. SASTRA University BTech Admission 2026: How to Apply?
SASTRA University BTech course admissions are based on both merit and entrance, as the university accepts JEE Mains scores and Class 12 scores. Moreover, for the integrated courses, too, the university grants merit-based admissions. SASTRA University admission process includes multiple steps, which begin with registering for the course online and are completed upon payment for the course. Step 1: SASTRA University BTech Application Process 2026
Before applying for the course, applicants must go through the admission handbook of the university and ensure that they are completing the primary eligibility requirements.
Step 1.1: Visit Sastra University's official website, https://www.sastra.edu/
Step 1.2: Under the admission section, click on 'Online Applications'.
Step 1.3: Under the bottom left corner in the 'Application Guide' section, click on 'Application manual'. A PDF with the step-by-step application process will pop open. Candidates willing to download this can click on the down arrow icon on the top right corner of the web page to download the same.
Step 1.4: Pay the SASTRA University BTech application fee.
Step 2: Counselling & Seat Allotment
50% of the seats are allotted based on the ranks obtained by the applicants in the JEE Main exam. For the remaining 50%, seats are allocated through the SASTRA University counselling. Furthermore, as per the achieved scores of applicants, the university releases the merit list/ cutoff list of shortlisted applicants. Those who have their names and want to enrol for the course can proceed with the further admission process.
Step 3: Fee Payment
Now, if the application process is concluded, applicants are required to pay a certain amount of the course fee. The total tuition fee for the BTech course ranges from INR 50,000 to INR 7.7 lakh. Yes, candidates can join SASTRA University BTech courses without appearing for JEE Mains. There are two admission criterias for admission to SASTRA University BTech and they are as mentioned below:
Stream 1: JEE Mains + Class 12 marks (50% weightage given to each), for admission to 50% of the total seats
Stream 2: Class 12 marks (100% weightage), for admission to the remaining 50%
The candidates can opt for any of the streams mentioned above, as per their convenience. Interested candidates must meet the eligibility criteria, mentioned below, before applying:
Eligibility- Class 12 with Maths and Physics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology, from a recognised board, and a minimum 60% aggregate.
Applicants, without Maths, are eligible to apply for BTech- Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, M.Tech (5 year Integrated)- Biotechnology, Medical Nanotechnology.
