    Yes, HIMT Chennai does offer a BSc course for the duration of three years. The campus only offers one specialisation in the BSc course, i.e., Nautical Science. Further, the course is divided into six semesters and offered in full-time mode. To get admission into this course, candidates must complete the basic eligibility requirement and secure valid scores in the entrance exam. 

    Q:   Who is eligible for BSc at HIMT Chennai?
    A: 

    The primary eligibility requirements for admissions to BSc courses at HIMT Chennai are that candidates must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with at least an aggregate of 60% and 50% in English at the Class 10 & 12 levels. Additionally, for the admission process, the college accepts valid IMU CET scores. There are different eligibility requirements too, that candidates must follow before getting admission, such as candidates' age should be: General: 27 years, OBC (NCL): 30 years, SC/ST: 32 years (from the commencement of the academic session).

    • Candidates must be medically fit, including eyesight and hearing, as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical examination) rules, 2000, and need to produce a certificate of medical fitness issued by a D.G. Shipping Approved Doctor.

    It is an excellent college with great facilities and infrastructure.
    Placements: 80% are placed in my course. The highest package offered is $750, the lowest package is $350, and the average package is $500. Top recruiting companies are Zodiac, MOL, Vridhi, Ozellar, and Genco. Captain is the top role offered in my course. 80% of students got internships from my college.
    Infrastructure: AC classrooms, cricket turf, football turf, V.R room, seamanship lab, MEK lab, AMW lab, ship on campus, library, hostel rooms with attached bathroom, canteen are available. A room with an attached bathroom, dispensary, and ambulance facility is available. Galley food is nutritious and overall good.
    Faculty: Captain, chief officer, chief engineer and other level experienced officers teach and share their knowledge with us. They are helping and very supportive. College rules and regulations shape us by making time punctual and following the instructions given, and time-to-time fire drills and regular muster are being conducted. The level of examination is moderate.
    Other: I chose it because it was a childhood dream to join the merchant Navy. Ganapati puja, Diwali, Holi, Onam, and all other festivals are celebrated.

    Placements: 80% of the students got placed in our course. The highest package is 750 USD, the lowest package is 350 USD, and the average package is 500 USD. Molmi, Molta, Zodiac, Synergy, and Vridhi are the top recruiting companies for our course. 80% of the students get internships in the above-mentioned companies. The top roles offered by this course are Captain/Master of a Merchant ship.
    Infrastructure: Air-conditioned smart classroom, VR lab, ship in campus ( SIC), Seamanship lab, library, MEK lab are available in the college. Hostel rooms are very tidy, along with attached bathrooms, and the quality of the mess food is above average, provided with a dispensary, canteen, and sports arena ( football turf, basketball court, pickleball court, volleyball court, cricket ground).
    Faculty: Teachers are really helpful when it comes to academics and other things, also, they're well qualified in the marine field. Teaching quality is amazing. Semester examination difficulty is moderate, and the examination is conducted by IMU ( Indian Maritime University). The pass percentage for examination is 50%.
    Other: I chose this course because I was inspired by a friend of a relative. Best thing about this course is that everything you learn is new. More practical classes and more VR ( virtual reality) labs could do more in learning and teaching rather than theoretical classes. They celebrate every cultural festival and conduct college events to promote curricular activities, participate in inter-college festivals (e.g., Navagati, Nautica ), and the campus surroundings are pretty environmentally friendly.

Overall, food quality is good. 24/7 medical support is available. Excellent facilities for both indoor and outdoor games are provided.

    Placements: I'm from B.Sc. 12th batch from HIMT College (2023-2026). Around 80% of our batch is being placed, and the rest will be placed soon. The highest package is $750, the lowest is $350, and the average is $500. MOL, Zodiac, Ozellar, Genco, Vridhi Maritime recruit. Percentage of students who got internships from the course is 80%. The top role offered in this field is Captain.
    Infrastructure: HIMT is having world-class infrastructures like a ship on campus, VR labs, AC classrooms, sports complex, which includes football and cricket turf, basketball court, volleyball court, pickleball court, MEK labs, AMW lab, SS lab, library, etc. The quality of the hostel is very good and has attached bathrooms, a study table, sufficient light and space. The quality of the food is good. It is very good compared to other colleges in the galley and canteen. We are having a 24/7 medical dispensary with a doctor, nurse and ambulance in case of emergency.
    Faculty: Faculty members are excellent, helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They are all able to make us understand and clear our doubts. The course curriculum is relevant and provides a good foundation for the maritime industry. The semester exams are not that difficult. The pass mark is 35 out of 70.
    Other: I chose this field to become financially stable at a younger age. The best things about my course are the practical exposure, discipline, and training. One thing that can be improved is increasing practical and onboard training opportunities so students can gain better real-time industry exposure. The college conducts many intra-college competitions and other extracurricular activities and marine competitions, which help students to improve their teamwork and leadership qualities.

    I am very happy to join HIMT College, and I am fully satisfied with all the things.
    Placements: 80% students got placed in top companies like Molmi, Molta, Zodiac, Genco, Vridhi Maritime and many other companies are about to come for recruitment. The highest package offered in our course is $ 750 per month, the lowest is $ 350, and the average is about $ 500. The top role offered in my course is Captain.
    Infrastructure: HIMT provide good facilities and infrastructure. Classrooms are cleaned and well-equipped with smart teaching facilities with AC, ship in campus, computer lab, library and practical training equipment related to the marine field. The quality of facilities in our hostel is very good. The food quality is very healthy. Medical facilities are available for students whenever required. We have a good sports complex which includes cricket turf, football turf, basketball court and pickleball.
    Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful, well-qualified and knowledgeable. Most of the faculty have sea experience, which helps students understand practical shipboard operations along with theoretical knowledge. The B.Sc. Nautical Science course curriculum is relevant to the shipping industry and helps students become ready through practical and theoretical training and discipline-oriented learning. Semester exams are moderate, but students are scoring well by attending classes regularly and studying properly. Almost all the students are scoring well and passing exams with good marks.
    Other: I chose B.Sc. Nautical Science because I am interested in marine field, traveling and deciplined professional career with global exposure. One thing that can be improved is increasing onboard practical training time. Our college is conducting events and games, and many other extracurricular activities for students regularly.
