IIEST, Shibpur is a rising B-School.

Placements: Placement scenario in our college is good. The best batch was of 2004 where our college achieved almost 100% placements. In 2017, the college achieved 75% placement. I would say that it is the best suited to join MBA in IIEST from B.Tech or B.Sc. background. Non B.Tech or Non BScs remain a bit singled out. But still, since it falls under INI status, the management is trying hard to improve placements scenario. It firmly believes that it will improve in future and is in a rising state. Overall, I would still recommend joining this college as you get to study at a very less fee and that too at a Government College.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. It is a lush green campus which is conducive for studying. Our college has well-equipped laboratories and a library with a good stock of books. Our college has a political free environment, so safety and security are of no concern at all. Classrooms are equipped with projectors for PPT presentations.

Faculty: Faculty members in our college are good. The course curriculum is well-suited for MBA students who aspire to become future managers in the corporate industry. The curriculum is generic in the first year where a student has to study every subject to get in-depth knowledge of every aspect. In the final year, the student has to choose specialisation subject out of finance, marketing, HR and operations including a 2-month summer internship after the 2nd-semester.

Other: Every year, our college organises the grand fest named Rebecca along with engineering fests like Instruo and a rich alumni association named Gaabesu.

An Institute of National Importance.

Placements: However the placement scenario of the college is good, but the placement of the department is average. Average package is 3lakhs/ annum. Mostly banking and financial Sector recruits from this department, but students are placed in other MNC' s also. The internship are provided to all the students at different reputed industries. Students are paid a lump sum during the internship and sometime they get some pre placement offers also.

Infrastructure: Regarding infrastructure, it is one of the best campuses of West Bengal with a blend of architecture and greenary. A huge central library with departmental libraries has well collection of books and journals. There are the latest technologiesogies driven computer lab for individual departments. There are several labs sponsored by government. Of India. Along with this class are well-equipped with audio visual technologies. In the recreation part two large well maintained play grounds with w swimming pool within the Campus. There is a huge auditorium along with some departmental seminar halls. There is a large number of hostel with nice accommodation. Canteen, food stalls, cafeteria, Stationary goods centre are present within the campus. As a whole it is a mini educational city within a city.

Faculty: Most of the faculty members are well educated and experience with a doctorate degree. They share their immense knowledge both academics and corporate. Students can approach with their problem and they don't hesitate to solve their problem. Teachers used to focus more on practical and live experiment and provide opportunity to visit several industries and have interaction with various corporate personals. The student to faculty ratio is 5:1. The course curriculum are regularly updated with the current scenario.

Other: College used to organize different educational, social and cultural event all through the year. There are several educational and social club within the college. It organize one of the biggest cultural fest of Eastern India I. e Rebeka.

It is an excellent college to study.

Placements: I am the student placement coordinator for the batch 2017-2019. We have received two call letters, each for our summer internship placements from Coal India Ltd., Balmer & Lawrie, Khadims, Srei Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., Propello, WBSEDCL, and Muthoot Finance. We are hopeful that our placements will also go well. The companies which visited in 2017 for final placements were Banshan Bank, Axis Bank, Havells, and Godrej. The average placement package offered for the year 2017 was 3.25 lacs per annum, which is a good ROI against the course fee of Rs. 2.10 lacs.

Infrastructure: We have three libraries; the central library, department library, and British Council library. We also have a subscription to CRISIL research software, which helps us in doing our coursework and projects. There is an updated and well-equipped computer lab powered by HP server and the latest software like IBM, SPSS, R.R Studio. We have large gallery classrooms which are equipped with speakers.

Faculty: We have two well-experienced in-house faculty members namely, Dr Anjan Ghosh (IIMC gold medalist), Dr Rama Koteswara Rao Kodasani (NIT Rourkela), and Dr Rupen Basu Mullick (corporate governance & strategic finance). Apart from them, we have Rana Basu (supply chain & green logistics), and the rest are visiting faculty members. Our course is designed in such a manner that we are a step ahead of other renowned institutes as we have the chance to study dual specialization. I am pursuing finance & HR as my specialization subjects. There are currently four specializations available which are finance, marketing, operations, and HR.

Other: We have a huge campus. I remember once when I visited IIMC campus for a B.Plan competition, one of the PhD students of IIMC, after knowing my college's name said, "your college is a fortress, it's too lame to say it as a college, and the mess food is awesome." Unfortunately, there are very few hostels for boys, but there are many hostels for girls which are vacant.

Placements: Companies like PWC, Malcolm India, Axis Bank, Bandhan Bank, SBI, Balmer Lawrie, GRSE, WBSEDCL, UCIL, M Junction service Limited, Godrej Interio Tata Tinplate, Future Generali, ITC, Havells India, Haldia Petrochem came for internships and final placement offers the placement percentage for our batch was more than 70% and the process is still going on the average salary offered is approximately 3.5 LPA, students were recruited as management trainee in different organisations.

Infrastructure: Vitthal Heritage campus aged more than 160 years IIEST Shibpur formerly known as BESU is a proud part of Bengal. It has a dedicated building for School of Management Sciences with well-equipped computer Labs library language lab and 24/7 hi-speed Wi-Fi internet. The campus has a number of good restaurants cafes like Cafe Coffee Day outlet ice cream parlours, swimming pool, gym, yoga sessions, two big playgrounds with inbuilt cricket stadium, entrepreneurship development cell and seminar halls. It has separate boys and girls hostel with WiFi facility, semi furnished room, food, canteen, medical facility on campus hospital and ambulance service. The lush green campus of BESU is a famous cultural hub known for its magnificent cultural fest, techno-management fest, workshops and seminars.

Faculty: It offers 2-year full-time dual specialisation MBA degree accredited by AICTE and UGC in the field of financial management, marketing management, Human Resource Management and operation management. It can boast of extraordinary professors from IIM, IISWBM, FMS, St Xaviers. the in-house faculty comprises of eminent IIM and Jadavpur University alumni having over 20 years of industry experience.Every year meritorious candidate gets a scholarship from IIM C and annual student membership from British Council. Students are taken for one-day industry tour. We attended various seminar and workshops arranged by DATA Brio Academy, Calcutta Stock Exchange, NASSCOM, Calcutta Management Association and AIMA. Interested candidates can also subscribe to SAP Institute Membership, Crisil Database and the business newspaper subscription.

Other: The course accepts MAT /CAT score for admission. The minimum cut off is 85 percentile and 65 percentile for MAT and CAT respectively. Fee for two years is approximately 2.10 lakh excluding accommodation charges and food. Maximum capacity for each batch is 60 candidates.

Value for money if you are confident enough not to depend on placements.

Placements: For our batch, placement was not at all satisfactory. Only 8 out of 30 students got placed. The highest package offered was 4.2 LPA. Notable companies: Hindustan motors (Marketing, company got shut down later on), Future group (HR & Marketing), PHI Learning (Sales) etc. Institute will take full responsibility of the internship placements. However, our senior & super senior batches used to get placed in government organisations. We faced this placement issue due to the unfortunate death of our placement officer. Later on, our juniors got better placements than us.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very good. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled. The labs are good. There are normal classrooms and galleries. 2 libraries are there, departmental and central library with plenty of world class collection of books. University hospital is inside the campus. For sports 2 well-maintained grounds are there-Oval & Lords. A free gym is there with the variety of equipment with qualified instructors, and the gym is quite big. More than 3 good canteens are there and the food is really good. Hostels are heaven, with all kinds of facilities and really good food. I mean really good in reasonable fee. Wi-Fi has really good speed; we used to watch live cricket matches in HD.

Faculty: Departmental faculty members were not that knowledgeable. However, we used to have 4 - 5 guest faculty members in every semester. But in the present day, all incompetent faculty members have been replaced. The course curriculum is good, but I would suggest it to be more aligned with then industry needs. Marketing, finance and operation specialization had better faculty members. HR faculty was very bad.The student to faculty ratio is 4:1.

Other: It is a government engineering institute where MBA gets the least attention. However, the certificate has way more value than any other WBUT colleges. The MBA course is total value for money. The hostel facility is really good. You'll get a lifetime experience in REBECA (annual fest). It is one of the biggest fests in eastern India.
