Good regarding placements and teaching quality, only for study purpose but not for the fest.
Placements: 70% of students got placed. The highest package is 65 LPA, the lowest is 7 LPA, and the average is 16 LPA. Wipro, Nvidia, and many local companies. 80% of students got their internship; if interested, they can go to Germany for companies like BMW, Volvo, Ferrari, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is very stable, and labs and lab teachers are very good, and classrooms are also good. I love the library atmosphere. Quality of facilities in the hostel is good, but the old infrastructure and the washing machine are available, and a water purifier, medical facilities are also good. Sports are also good.
Faculty: Good standard of faculty and helpful teachers, who are qualified and have also studied in IITs and NITs. The good standard teaching quality was amazing. I love the teaching. The course curriculum is relevant to the academic standard and makes students industry-ready. Exams are very difficult, and the pass percentage is 40%.
Other: I love mechanical, and the institute has great machines for labs. I wish the tenure of labs to be more because time is insufficient. Events and festivities will be good, and the great crowd will be more, connectivity is more, and people from every state are present on the campus. But campus surroundings are not good, with many small roads and not enough transport from the railway station to the college. Good scholarship schemes are present in the college, and more extracurricular activities like Robo Darshan and others.

M.Sc. in Physics - Batch of 2027

It has strong academics in Physics with a good and peaceful research environment.
Placements: 41 students are placed in my course. In M.Sc. Physics is not placement-based, as it is research-based, so most students give exams like NET, JEST, and GATE. A small number of students get jobs in data analysis and teaching roles through their own efforts. About 60% of students got internships at many institutes.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the Physics department is very good. There are all labs with well-equipped instruments. Wi-Fi is also available. The library remains open for 24 hours. The hostel facility is good. The environment is perfect. The mess food is not bad and adjustable. Medical facilities are very good. There are playgrounds for sports and games. So overall it is perfect.
Faculty: Professors are very helpful and guide us in exams like CSIR, NET, GATE, and JEST. They are heavily qualified in their research areas. The M.Sc. in Physics course is mainly research-oriented, so it is for research areas more than an industrial job. Semester exams are moderately difficult and require regular study and conceptual understanding.

Good faculty, decent placements, strong alumni network, and average infrastructure.
Placements: About 65 percent placement in the year 2025. The highest package is 23 LPA and the average package offered is 8 LPA. Top recruiting companies like BPCL, ICICI, PWC, LNT, ITD Cementation, Mageba Bridge, Tata, etc. About 70 percent of enrolled placement students got placed. Top roles offered are associate, etc.
Infrastructure: The college has a pretty good hostel now which is also newly renovated. Wi-Fi is available 24/7 on campus as well as in the hostel. Library facilities are also very nice (fully AC) giving a 24/7 option for students to study. Right now the library is also expanding to 1 more floor making it a 3-floor library for more capacity.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified but teaching quality varies across subjects. Curriculum covers basics but is slightly outdated and not fully industry-oriented. Students need extra effort like internships and self-study to be industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate and most students pass with regular preparation.
Other: I chose this course due to my interest in the core field and its career opportunities. The best part is strong fundamentals, supportive faculty, and a good alumni network that helps with guidance and opportunities. The curriculum needs more industry exposure and practical learning. Campus life is decent with good connectivity and average extracurricular activities.

It's not good like IIT but a good tier to NIT.
Placements: The placement is around 55-60 percent, this branch is good. The highest package of this year, I think, is around 14 LPA something and the lowest is 3.60 LPA. Top recruiting companies for Civil Engineering at IIEST Shibpur include major core sector firms like Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), JSW Group, Vedanta, and Aditya Birla Group.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are also good. The library is good with free Wi-Fi but the classrooms are old. The college has too many trees which gives a good and pure air, and the campus looks nice but the hostels are old because it's an old college. There is a lack of canteens in college, and there are no night canteens on campus.
Faculty: Many teachers are graduates from out of the country and teachers explain in good ways how they solve our doubts also. The course curriculum is relevant. The semester exams are moderate. Questions are based on the concept that one always learnt a new things.
Other: There is a cultural fest named Rebecca, which is good. A Bollywood singer came at that time.

2nd oldest engineering college. Oldest Mining department. opportunities and Innovative societies.
Placements: Graduate Engineer Trainee is the top starting role offered in Mining. Companies like Vedanta, Deloitte, Aditya Birla, and Adani are recruiting companies here. Placements vary from 6 LPA to 14 LPA at the start for mining. While for Departments like CST or IT, it can cross crores.
Infrastructure: The library is good, 24/7 opened. Hostel infrastructure needs improvement, while a new 1000-seater is under construction. Food quality is somewhere questionable, somewhere good. Halls are places to visit with unique architecture and a good culture of living in single rooms.
Faculty: Well-experienced faculty members. Relevant teaching and moderate-level exams. Labs are well facilitated. Both research and internship training are available. Workshops occur at intervals. External guest lecturers often come for seminars. Collaboration between departments for project work is also there.
Other: The sports, technical and cultural fest culture is rich here.

if you want to enjoy college life, this is a good choice.
Placements: Nearly 60–70 percent of students are placed last year in Civil Engineering. The highest package offered is 32 LPA, the lowest is 3 LPA, and the average package is around 5 LPA. Top recruiters include Wipro, L&T, and PW. Nearly 10 percent of students secured internships through outside sources.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, but most of the buildings are quite old. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled with proper lighting and is well maintained. Hostel facilities are good, and the staff behavior is supportive. The mess food is average, and non-vegetarian food is served most of the time. Medical facilities are available on campus. The sports culture is very active, and inter-college games are held every year.
Faculty: All faculty members are well qualified and knowledgeable, although some teach at a fast pace. The curriculum is relevant, and lab sessions help students become industry-ready. Semester exams are of moderate difficulty. If you study properly, even one night before the exam, you can score decent marks. The passing percentage is 50 percent.
Other: My JEE rank is approximately 1 lakh, which is how I got admission to this college and branch. Labs can be further improved. Events are held every month. Scholarships are provided for EWS, OBC, and SC/ST students.

Admission to IIEST Shibpur for B.Tech is through JEE Main followed by JoSAA counselling. For M.Tech, you need a valid GATE score. Keep an eye on the official JoSAA and CCMT counselling dates, and make sure you have all required documents like marksheets, category certificates, and ID proofs.
