No, it is not possible to get a direct admission in IIIT Pune since the institute admits only through a rigorous process that considers the JEE Main score. The process is centralized counseling done by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) or CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board). The total tuition fee for the BTech programme at IIIT Pune is INR 7.20 lakh. To bring the tuition fee down IIIT Pune offers several scholarships to its students, such as fee reimbursement schemes for SC, ST, OBC, and EBC. The total tuition fee mentioned above is for the academic year 2022-23, hence is indicative.
Yes, IIITs are popular among students for BTech programmes. During placements in 2022 more than 70 companies visited the campus, and the highest package secured was INR 53 LPA further the average package secured was INR 16.83 LPA. A rise of 47.22% was seen in the highest package as opposed to placements in 2021. Considering the package secured and the total tuition fee of INR 7.20 lakh, this seems to be a good return on investments.
As a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model institute, IIIT Pune doesnt provide internal fee waivers or concessions for any category. All students, regardless of category, must pay the full fee. Students can though apply for external government scholarships (state or central) for reimbursement.

The MTech programme of two-years (full-time) is offered by IIIT Pune under its two specialisations namely Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. The fee strcuture for the BTech programme at IIIT Pune is INR 1.20 Lacs for each semester. The development fee is INR 14,000 each semester. There are various other fee elements such as Examination fee, Alumni Association fee, and others.
