Indian Institute of Information Technology Una (IIIT Una) was set up by the collaboration of the  HP Power Corporation Limited, the government of Himachal Pradesh, HP Transmission Corporation Limited, and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Indian Institute of Information Technology Una (IIIT Una) is managed and funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model and was established in the year 2014-2015.

IIIT Una is a public private college which was established in 2014. The college was set up by the collaboration of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, HP Power Corporation Limited, the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, and HP Transmission Corporation Limited. Being the public private college, the fee for various courses is not very high. If students find the fee a little high, they can apply for scholarships provided by the college. Yes, IIIT Una provides a hostel facility. Hostel accommodation is compulsory for the students of IIIT Una. There are 3 hostels, 2 for boys and 1 for girls. The rooms are allotted on the basis of roll numbers of students and on sharing basis in which 3 students share a single room. Each room has 3 cots, 3 almirahs, 3 tables, and 3 chairs for each individual. Hostel amenities include CCTV surveillance, water coolers, access to Hindi and English newspaper, and sports equipment.

IIIT Una supports meritorious and various other category candidates through several scholarships. Top Class Scholarships are offered to SC Students. The SC students with a total family income (annually) from all sources up to INR 8.00 Lacs are offered various scholarships. These students will be offered scholarships on the criteria set by the college. The SC students who have secured admission in a full-time programme according to the general selection criteria prescribed by IIIT Una can apply for the scholarships. The no. Of scholarships decided by the IIIT Una for 2021-2022 fresh candidates was 1,500.

Some of the scholarships provided by the college are Top Class Scholarships to SC Students. SC students with a total family income (annually) from all sources up to INR 8.00 Lacs will be provided scholarships only if they have secured admission to a full-time programme according to the General selection criteria which is decided by the college.

There is no such provision for direct admission in the M.Tech programme at IIIT Una. Candidates seeking admission to the M.Tech programme at IIIT Una must fulfil the following requirements:

• The candidate should have done BTech in relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale.
• Also, candidates should have valid GATE scores based on which they will be selected for further admission process. Those having GATE score/ rank above the closing rank can apply for the counselling process through CCMT.
• Selected candidates will be required to report to the admission cell at IIIT Una for document verification and fee payment.
