Opening and Closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For JEE Main Round 6 cutoff 2025, the opening rank was 31909 and closing rank was 57250 for the general category candidates under All India quota. Cut off are different when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. Candidates wishing to take admission in full-time sponsored research scholar PhD at IIIT Ranchi should have completed ME/MTech or equivalent with at least 60% aggregate score/ 6.0 CPI. SC/ST/ PwD candidates will be given a relaxation of 5 % marks. Along with this, applicants should have any if the below mentioned qualification:
- Qualified CSIR/ UGC/ DAE/ NBHM/ DST/ DBT/ ICAR/ICMR/ ICPR or secured funding from such an agency.
- Applicants should be financed by the Government /Semi-Government/ academic/industry /research lab.
- Applicants should be nominated by Government of India/State under a Cultural Exchange Scholarship Programme, or a scholar admitted under an MOU.

The minimum duration of the PhD programme at IIIT Ranchi (excluding dropped
semester (s)/maternity leave) is three years (36 months) from the date of joining. The maximum period for completing the PhD programme is seven years (excluding maternity leave) from the date of admission.
