The Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi has grown significantly since its establishment in 2016 and is one of the one of the newer IIITs and is still unranked by NIRF.

• Placements: The institute has strong placements with recent ECE batches having 100% placements with the highest and the lowest packages ranging from INR 87 LPA & INR 4 LPA. IIIT Ranchi is a Public-Private institute which was established in 2016 by the MoE, the Government of India, and the Government of Jharkhand along with the industry partners TCS, TTL,  and CCL in a Public Private Partnership. The college has been given the status of the of the Institute of National Importance under the Act of Parliament. To get admission to this college, candidates must have valid scores in accepted entrance exams such as JEE Main, GATE, and others.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi (IIIT Ranchi) was established in 2016 by the MoE, the Government of India, and the Government of Jharkhand along with the industry partners TCS, TTL, and CCL in a Public Private Partnership. Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Ranchi offers undergraduate, PhD, and postgraduate courses to students across Engineering and various other streams. Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Ranchi is given the status of the Institute of National Importance under the Act of Parliament. 

The cutoff trend for B.Tech at IIIT Ranchi has increased after a steady decline with the most recent 2025 cutoff being 57250. While in 2022, the closing rank for B.Tech. under general category for all India quota was 35382. In 2023, it decreased to 32560.

This trend many change in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

The minimum duration of the PhD programme at IIIT Ranchi (excluding dropped
semester (s)/maternity leave) is three years (36 months) from the date of joining. The maximum period for completing the PhD programme is seven years (excluding maternity leave) from the date of admission.

 IIIT Ranchi JEE Main cutoff 2026 was released for the first round for admission to the BTech course and its various branches. The cutoff was out for different All India categories, including OBC AI. 

For the OBC AI category, the IIIT Ranchi cutoff 2026 varied from 14568 to 16444, with BTech CSE (AI and ML) course being the most toughest for admission. IIIT Ranchi specially offers BTech courses. Candidates must score at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class 12 and apply through JoSAA.
