Students seeking course admissions must clear their previous qualifying examination and appear for any of the prescribed entrance exams such as JEE Main, GATE, IIT JAM, UGC NET, CSIR NET, among others. IIIT Trichy doesn't offer free admission. Candidates must pay the course specific tuition fee for admission to the offered programme. However, candidates who have successfully admitted in the institution can opt for the central/government scholarship accepted by IIIT Trichy. Candidates willing to get admission at IIIT Trichy must have a valid score in various national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, GATE, UGC NET, and CSIR NET, followed by counseling for respective courses.

IIIT Trichy offers UG, PG and Doctoral-level courses. IIIT Trichy offers a four-year UG course of BTech across two specialisations. Admission to BTech is done through a national-level entrance exam, i.e., JEE Main, followed by JoSAA Counselling. Aspiring students need to qualify the exam with a valid score. IIIT Trichy offers M.Tech course at the PG level. This course is offered across multiple specialisations. Admission to M.Tech is based on a national-level entrance exam, followed by counselling. For female candidates in general category under All India quota, 35114 was the closing rank. BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.
