Pre Requisites for the UGC NET Application
The candidates who are willing to appear for the UGC NET must know the pre required knowledge before filling out the application form. The candidates can check the pre requisites below:
- Board/University certificate
- Ration card/Passport number/Aadhaar card number/Voter ID card number/other Government ID
- Qualifying degree certificate
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate (if applicable)
- A person with Disability (PwD) certificate (if applicable)
- Scanned images of photo and signature in JPG format (file size of photo: 10 kb to 200 kb, the file size of signature: 4 kb to 30 kb)
- A valid email ID and mobile number
- Permanent and correspondence address with pin code
- Four exam cities in order of preference
- UGC NET Subject Code for which the candidate plans to take the exam (available in information brochure)

How to Fill Out the UGC NET Application Form?

- Go to the official website-ugcnet.nta.nic.in
- Click on the UGC NET Application Form Link
- The Registration Window will appear on the screen
- Click on the 'New Registration' tab
- Fill out the personal details like name, father's and mother's name, educational qualification and more
- Upload the photograh ans signature as per prescribed size
- Select three locations for the exam centres

How to Make Corrections in the UGC NET Application Form?
The candidates who wish to edit their application form after submitting it due to any reason can edit their appliation on specific dates provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The steps to edit the application form has been given below:
- Visit the official website of the exam
- Login using the application number and password
- Click on the link/button available for application form correction
- Read the instructions and click on the ‘I Agree' checkbox
- Click on Proceed for Application button
- Make the necessary changes in the application form
- Click on Submit button
- Review the corrections made and click on the checkboxes given at the bottom of the page
- Pay the additional fee, if any.
- Click on the Final Submit button
- Take a printout of the revised Confirmation Page

Age Limit for UGC NET 2023 Application Form
The candidates must check the age eligibility criteria to appear in the UGC NET 2023 exam. The age eligibility for JRF and Assistant Professor has been given below for the candidates:
Age Limit for JRF
The applicants who are less than or equal to 30 years as of December 1, 2023, can apply for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The candidates who fall under the category of SC/ST/OBC get relaxation according to UGC norms.
Age Limit for Assistant Professor
There is no upper age limit to apply for the Assistant Professor exam. The candidates who have completed their post-graduation or appearing in their final year can apply for the UGC NET assistant professor.
UGC NET Age Relaxation
The age relaxation for UGC NET/JRF exam has been given below for the candidates. The relaxation is given to the candidates according to the UGC norms fixed by the Indian government:
- The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Female/PwD/Third Gender will get age relaxation upto 5 years
- The research scholars will get age relaxation of upto five years depending on the time span spent on research
- The LLM candidates will get up to 3 years of age relaxation
- Candidates who are from the armed forces will get upto 5 years of age relaxation depending on the time period of service in the defence forces
UGC NET Application Form Important Points
The candidates must keep the guidlines given below for filling out the UGC NET exam application form:
- Candidates can submit the application form in online mode on the official website of the exam only. UGC NET applications submitted in any other mode will not be accepted
- Candidates can submit only one application form
- Candidates must enter their email ID and mobile number in the application form correctly as all the important communication regarding the exam will be done by NTA through email or SMS
- All four steps of the application process (registration, application form filling, uploading of photo and signature, and application fee payment) can be done together or at separate times
- Candidates do not need to upload any document other than a scanned photo and signature in the application form
- In case, the confirmation page is not generated after the payment of the application fee, this means that the transaction has been cancelled. In such cases, the amount will be refunded to the candidate’s account. However, the candidate has to make another transaction of fee payment
- Candidates must retain the printed copies of the confirmation page for future reference
- Since the entire UGC NET application process is online, candidates do not need to send any document through post/fax/by hand/email to NTA
