IIIT Trichy Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees, Eligibility & Application

IIIT Trichy accepts multiple percentile for its offered programme. Admission is offered based on the eligibility criteria. Find below the percentile required for admission:

IIIT Trichy offers UG, PG and Doctoral-level courses. IIIT Trichy offers a four-year UG course of BTech across two specialisations. Admission to BTech is done through a national-level entrance exam, i.e., JEE Main, followed by JoSAA Counselling. Aspiring students need to qualify the exam with a valid score. IIIT Trichy offers M.Tech course at the PG level. This course is offered across multiple specialisations. Admission to M.Tech is based on a national-level entrance exam, followed by counselling. Finally, IIT Trichy offers PhD courses namely, Doctor of Philosophy in full-time mode. The admission criteria for the Doctor of Philosophy degree is based on the score of candidates in the respective national-level entrance exams. 

If a student misses the internal exams for a serious reason, such as a serious illness that requires hospitalisation or a tragedy in the family, he or she can appeal to the examination in charge prior to the examination begins for permission to participate in the subsequent examination (s), when they are held next. This must be done through the head of the department and registered medical officer. In these situations, the student is temporarily given a subject grade of "I." 

The score you would need to achieve to get a seat at IIIT Trichy would depend entirely on which M.Tech specialisation you want. IIIT Trichy offers two course specialisations. M.Tech. in VLSI Systems, cutoff varied from 350 to 460 for the General AI category. For M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, the cutoff score was between 427 and 589. Students aiming for admission to this university should aim to achieve a score well above 450 to increase their chances of getting admission. Please keep in mind that different categories will have different qualifying scores. 

Candidates are required to apply through the JEE Main and JoSAA for admission to the BTech programme. Candidate who successfully get sadmission through JoSAA must submit the below mentioned documnets in the IIIT Trichy's google form: 

• Downloaded copy of Provisional Allotment letter
• Proof of Institute balance fee paid
• Proof of hostel fee paid to the Institut
• Aadhaar card/ Passport/ Any government ID proof
• Downloaded Score Card with rank of JEE (Main)-2023 issued by NTA
• Transfer Certificate / leaving certificate from school last studied
• Mark sheet of qualifying examination (12th Mark Sheet)
• Class X (High School) Board Certificate as proof of date of birth & Name
• Conduct and character certificate from school last studied
• Social Category Certificate [GEN-EWS / OBC (NCL) / SC / ST] issued by the competent authority, if applicable
• Certificate for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), if applicable
• Medical fitness certificate as per the JoSAA 2023 format
• Digital Passport Size Photo (size mentioned in the Google Form)

If you belong to the General AI category, your chances of getting a seat at IIIT Trichy are high. The cutoff score ranged from 427 to 589 for M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering and 350 to 460 for M.Tech. in VLSI Systems during the last and first rounds. The last year 2022 cutoff ranks for BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering at IIIT Trichy other than General category are - 60677 for OBC, 107451 for SC, 176528 for ST, 54904 for EWS, and 897 for PWD. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE exam, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. Moreover, it also varies if the applicant is a female.

According to last year statistics, an OBC-NCL rank of around 5,751 to 11,994 is typically required for admission to IIIT Trichy through JoSAA or CSAB in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) stream.
It can be challenging to get a seat in the CSE branch with your OBC-NCL rank of 16,500. OBC-NCL students have a little more hope of getting admitted to the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) branch, where closing ranks have reached 15,120.

For 2022, cut off was 51499 for General category candidates in All India quota for BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering in IIIT Trichy. For female candidates in general category under All India quota 60275 was the closing rank. Moreover, the BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant. To apply for the BTech course offered at IIIT Trichy, students must firstly fulfil the admission criteria of the course. The basic eligibility requires candidates to pass Class 12 from a recognised board with PCM as compulsory subjects and a minimum of 75% aggregate. Eligible candidates can visit the official website of JEE Main and register themselves by filling out the application form available. Once the results are out, students need to register for JpSAA counselling and select IIIT Trichy as the preferred college while filling out the form. 

At IIIT Trichy, students can pursue the MSc programme across in two specialisations; Computer Science and Electronics with VLSI Systems. Students seeking admission to the course must pass graduation with a minimum aggregate of 60% from a recognised university. Additionally, as admissions are entrance-based, students need to get a valid score in IIT JAM and participate in CCMN counselling for seat allotment. 

The cutoff for IIT Trichy differs according to categories and rounds. For the General AI category, the cutoff ranged from 350 to 427 across various M.Tech specialisations. For the OBC category All India quota, the cutoff score for admission fell between 320 to 410. For both these categories, M.Tech in  Computer Science and Engineering proved to be the toughest for admissions, with the qualifying cutoff score being 410 for OBC and 427 for the General AI category candidates. IIIT Trichy accepts the GATE exam score, followed by the CCMT counselling process for admissions to M.Tech courses.
