IIIT Trichy Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees, Eligibility & Application

IIIT Trichy offers UG, PG and Doctoral-level courses. IIIT Trichy offers a four-year UG course of BTech across two specialisations. Admission to BTech is done through a national-level entrance exam, i.e., JEE Main, followed by JoSAA Counselling. Aspiring students need to qualify the exam with a valid score. IIIT Trichy offers M.Tech course at the PG level. This course is offered across multiple specialisations. Admission to M.Tech is based on a national-level entrance exam, followed by counselling. Finally, IIT Trichy offers PhD courses namely, Doctor of Philosophy in full-time mode. Indian Institute of Information Technology, Tiruchirappalli (IIIT Trichy) offers an undergraduate BTech programmme under two specialisations, namely Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Admission to all these BTech courses is conducted via JEE Main exam, followed by JoSAA counselling and CSAB counselling. Candidates are required to qualify the course-specific eligibility criteria before applying for the JoSAA exam. According to last year statistics, an OBC-NCL rank of around 5,751 to 11,994 is typically required for admission to IIIT Trichy through JoSAA or CSAB in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) stream.

 IIIT Trichy OBC cutoff 2026 was released for the first round for different BTech course specialisations. For this category, the round 1 cutoff varied from 9340 to 12540. As per this range, BTech CSE was the hardest course for admission, with the cutoff being 9340. On the other hand, BTech ECE was the least competitive course for enrollment.

For 2022, cut off was 51499 for General category candidates in All India quota for BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering in IIIT Trichy. To apply for the BTech course offered at IIIT Trichy, students must firstly fulfil the admission criteria of the course. The basic eligibility requires candidates to pass Class 12 from a recognised board with PCM as compulsory subjects and a minimum of 75% aggregate. Eligible candidates can visit the official website of JEE Main and register themselves by filling out the application form available. Once the results are out, students need to register for JpSAA counselling and select IIIT Trichy as the preferred college while filling out the form. 

At IIIT Trichy, students can pursue the MSc programme across in two specialisations; Computer Science and Electronics with VLSI Systems. Students seeking admission to the course must pass graduation with a minimum aggregate of 60% from a recognised university. Additionally, as admissions are entrance-based, students need to get a valid score in IIT JAM and participate in CCMN counselling for seat allotment. 

If you belong to the General AI category, your chances of getting a seat at IIIT Trichy are high. The cutoff score ranged from 427 to 589 for M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering and 350 to 460 for M.Tech. in VLSI Systems during the last and first rounds. IIIT Trichy CCMT cutoff 2025 has been out for admissions to various M.Tech course specialisations. The cutoff score for the OBC AI category ranged from 320 to 420 for M.Tech. in VLSI Systems, and for M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, the cutoff went from 410 to 516. It is to be noted that the cutoff varies according to different categories and rounds.

The last year 2022 cutoff ranks for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering at IIIT Trichy - Indian Institute of Information Technology other than General category are - 44908 for OBC, 111077 for SC, 130513 for ST, 40884 for EWS, 654555 for PWD. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE exam, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.

The score you would need to achieve to get a seat at IIIT Trichy would depend entirely on which M.Tech specialisation you want. IIIT Trichy offers two course specialisations.
