MBA in Business Analytics 

at IIM Amritsar, Amritsar

IIM Amritsar inducts candidates for the MBA programme based on a valid score in CAT exam. Candidates should prepare well for the CAT exam as only those students whose CAT percentile is above the closing rank mentioned in the cut-off list published by IIM Amritsar will be shortlisted for the Personal Interview (PI) round. Candidates who qualify for the Personal Interview (PI) round will be required to report to the admission cell at IIM Amritsar for document verification and fee payment for completing the admission process.

To apply for the CAT exam, candidates are required to create an account, fill the CAT registration form and pay the exam application fee. The CAT form have to be submitted by deadline after which no application will be accepted. The exam is usually conducted in November. Students are required to appear for the CAT exam in Computer Based Testing mode at allotted test centres. CAT exam for IIM Amritsar admission is held in three slots. 

Morning slot: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM

Afternoon slot: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM

Evening slot: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

For admission to MBA (or PGP) 2024 batch at IIM Amritsar, the CAT test was conducted on November 26, 2023. Aspirants of IIM Amritsar were required to appear for the exam in Computer Based Testing mode at the allotted test centres. CAT exam 2023 was held in three slots:

Morning slot: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM

Afternoon slot: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM

Evening slot: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Earlier, the CAT exam used to be of 180 minutes with 100 questions but in 2020, both exam duration and number of questions were reduced due to COVID-19 pandemic. From CAT 2022 onwards, the total number of questions stands at 66 as part of CAT pattern.

The institute has completed the placement session for the MBA batch 2022-24. The highest domestic and highest international packages offered to the 2024 passing-out batch were INR 28 LPA and INR 58.52 LPA, respectively. Alongside, over 250 recruiters participated in the drive. This included more than 120 new recruiters. The average package and median package for for top 25% offers stood at INR 19.73 LPA and INR 18.01 LPA, respectively.

More than 2500 companies participated in the 2024 IIM Amritsar placements. On the other hand, 154 companies were part of IIM Jammu placements 2024. The table below compares the 2024 placement statistics of IIM Amritsar and IIM Jammu:

The number of companies that visited the institute campus over the past three years indicates an improving trend. The count of recruiters increased from 88 in 2021 to over 110 in 2022. IIM Amritsar offers three sepcialisations for the MBA programme:

• MBA (General)
• MBA (Business Analytics)
• MBA (Human Resources)

Candidates seeking admission in any of the aforesaid MBA specialisations must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories). Also, candidates should have a valid score in CAT exam as IIM Amritsar shortlist candidates based on their CAT percentile for the Personal Interview (PI) round.
