IIT Bhilai offers a four-year full-time BTech programme which is its flagship programme. The institute offers a BTech programme across six specialisations. Given below are the six BTech specialisations offered at IIT Bhilai:

Candidates are required to appear for the JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced in order to get selected for admission to the BTech programme at IIT Bhilai.

IIT Bhilai offers a full-time residential course of  BTech. The programme is offered in six popular specialisations. These are:

The NTA will administer the JEE Main 2026 test in two sessions. JEE Main 2026 application form session 1 is now available. Because the exam will be given twice, the NTA will issue a different application form for the April sessions. According to the timetable, the Joint Entrance Main Exam 2026 will be held in two sessions: JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will be held between January 21 to 30, 2026 and JEE Main Session 2 Exam 2026 will be held between April 2 - April 9, 2026.

The last date for the GATE 2024 registration was October 20 with late fees. The last date for GATE 2024 registration without late fees was October 12. GATE 2024 application form was available online on the IISc Bangalore official website. GATE 2024 registration link is gate2024.iisc.ac.in. The registration window opened on August 30, 2023. Candidates can apply for the GATE exam until the last date. Before filling out the GATE application form, it is advisable for the candidates to check the eligibility criteria. In case a candidate fails to fulfill any of the GATE exam eligibility conditions, then his or her candidature will be cancelled and he or she will not be able to download his or her GATE admit card for 2024. IIT Bhilai admission to most of the courses is entrance-based. Further, for admission to PhD course, candidates must apply on the official website of IIT Bhilai. 

Note: For MTech, the qualifying candidates have to further apply for COAP and then apply on the official website of IIT Bhilai to proceed to confirm their admission. The Application fee of 100 INR is applicable for SC/ST/PwD/female candidates and 200 INR is applicable for other candidates.

IIT Bhilai offers a large diversity of courses to students in various fields. IIT Bhilai admissions are held on the basis of entrance tests. Students seeking course admissions must clear their previous qualifying examination and appear for any of the prescribed entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE, IIT JAM, UGC NET, CSIR NET, among others. There is no such provision for getting direct admission to any of the IITs including IIT Bhilai. Candidates willing to be admitted must meet the eligibility and selection criteria established by the institute. Spread over 447 acres of land,  IIT Bhilai infrastructure offers both residential and academic facilities to its students. The facilities include separate hostels for boys and girls, well-furnished rooms and spacious classrooms, and full-time internet connectivity. IIT Bhilai has 8,000+ students, hostels, clubs, sports facilities, guest houses, 3 boys' hostels and girls' hostels. The institute has UG, PG, Alaknanda clubs, and various other facilities for the students. IIT Bhilai's library has a collection of more than 3.20 Lacs documents, online databases, CD-ROMs, standards, audio-video material, specifications, theses, reports, etc.

To apply for IIT Bhilai BTech course, you have to register for JEE Main at NTA website. The exam is conducted in two sessions. You may apply for either of the session by paying INR 1,000 (for boys) and INR 800 (for girls) as application fees.

 IIT Bhilai JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 was published for admission to the various BTech course specialisations for all rounds and categories under the All India category. 

For the General AI category, the overall cutoff varied between 6384 and 17478, according to the first and last round. Among all, the hardest for admission course for enrolment was  B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, with the cutoff ranging from 6384 to 7382.

While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE Advanced, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.

IIT Bhilai is considered a competitive institution, but generally less so than the older, more established IITs, making it a relatively good option for those who aim for a good Engineering education but may not have the highest JEE Advanced rank. The cutoff ranks for IIT Bhilai have varied over the years, but generally, the closing ranks for the general category in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) have been around the 5,000-6,000 range. Therefore, once an applicant fulfills IIT Bhilai admission requirements i.e., competitive grades, standardised test scores, technical language requirements as well as relevant documents, they are most likely to secure an admission in the institute. However, students must not take this lightly and apply to the institute within the deadlines in order to get enrolled as a student.
