Ph.D in Chemical and Material Engineering

IIT Goa applications usually open in second week of June every year. The applications closes by the end of June. The institute also conducts a written test followed by interview to shortlist aspirants for the PhD programme. Aspirants with a valid score in GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, etc. can also apply for the PhD course.

Candidates applying for PhD course at IIT Goa have to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 200. There is a relaxation in the application fee for SC/ ST/ PwD/ EWS/ female candidates. The fee for such aspirants is INR 200. Aspirants need to pay the application fee via any of the online payment modes.

Candidates need to complete a master's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with 60% aggregate or CPI 6/10 or equivalent. (55% aggregate or CPI 5.5/10 or equivalent for SC/ST) to apply for IIT Goa PhD programme. Candidates who have completed their bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Engineering/ Technology with a minimum of 70% aggregate or CPI 7 (65% aggregate or 6.5 CPI for SC/ ST candidates) can also apply.

Aspirants who have completed a master's degree in Science/ Engineering/ Technology or equivalent with at least 60% aggregate or CPI 6/ 10 or equivalent (55% aggregate or CPI 5.5/10 for SC/ ST) with a minimum of two-years of work experience at the time of application are eligible to apply for part-time PhD programme. 

Candidates who have completed bachelor's degree or master's degree in Science/ Engineering/ Technology at least 60% aggregate or CPI 6/ 10 or equivalent (55% aggregate or CPI 5.5/10 for SC/ ST) can also apply. Aspirants need to have a four-year of experience after bachelor's degree and one-year experience after master's degree.

Candidates must have the following in order to apply for IIT Goa:

• Scanned copies of colored photograph & signature
• Scanned copies of birth certificate
• Scanned copies of passing certificate and qualifying mark sheet of Class 10, Class 12, graduation and post-graduation (as applicable)
• Scanned copies of entrance examination scorecard
• Caste certificate
• Category certificate (if applicable)

IIT Goa has a good track record of placements for its BTech and M.Tech course. IIT Goa has concluded the placements for the BTech and M.Tech Class of 2024 with a 90.60% placement rate. For BTech, the placement rate recorded duirng IIT Goa placements in 2024 stood at  90.7%, whereas the placement rate recorded for M.Tech batch 2024 stood at 90%.
