IIT Goa applications usually open in second week of June every year. The applications closes by the end of June. The institute also conducts a written test followed by interview to shortlist aspirants for the PhD programme. Aspirants with a valid score in GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, etc. can also apply for the PhD course.

Candidates applying for PhD course at IIT Goa have to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 200. There is a relaxation in the application fee for SC/ ST/ PwD/ EWS/ female candidates. The fee for such aspirants is INR 200. Aspirants need to pay the application fee via any of the online payment modes.

Candidates need to complete a master's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with 60% aggregate or CPI 6/10 or equivalent. (55% aggregate or CPI 5.5/10 or equivalent for SC/ST) to apply for IIT Goa PhD programme. Candidates who have completed their bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Engineering/ Technology with a minimum of 70% aggregate or CPI 7 (65% aggregate or 6.5 CPI for SC/ ST candidates) can also apply.

Aspirants who have completed a master's degree in Science/ Engineering/ Technology or equivalent with at least 60% aggregate or CPI 6/ 10 or equivalent (55% aggregate or CPI 5.5/10 for SC/ ST) with a minimum of two-years of work experience at the time of application are eligible to apply for part-time PhD programme. 

Candidates who have completed bachelor's degree or master's degree in Science/ Engineering/ Technology at least 60% aggregate or CPI 6/ 10 or equivalent (55% aggregate or CPI 5.5/10 for SC/ ST) can also apply. Aspirants need to have a four-year of experience after bachelor's degree and one-year experience after master's degree.

The IIT Goa highest package offered during the 2023 placement drive stood at INR 60 LPA. Earlier, the IIT Goa highest package offered to the batch 2022 was INR 1.12 crore per annum. IIT Goa offers good placements for BTech and M.Tech courses. In 2024, a total of 161 recruiters participated in the placement process and placed 116 students of BTech and MTech in new-age job profiles. No, the Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) only offers entrance-based admission for all the course to students. It accepts JEE Advanced scores for admission to BTech. Those students who get admission to BTech or MTech go through course material thoroughly like JEE Advanced 2025 books, GATE question papers, and others. Candidates are required to qualify for JEE Main exam prior to appearing for JEE Advanced. Apart from its flagship programme, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Goa) also offers MTech and PhD courses to the students at the postgraduate and doctoral levels. The accepted entrance exam for the MTech is GATE.

After applying for JEE Main or GATE for admission to BTech or MTech, respectively, candidates are shortlisted for BTech based on JEE Main, JEE Advanced and for MTech based on GATE scores. Then, candidates are allotted seats in JoSAA Counselling for BTech. Admission to M.Tech is through GATE followed by COAP Counselling. The cutoff for BTech and MTech courses is released by the respective counselling bodies. For PhD, the institute releases a merit list announcing the names of the shortlisted candidates. As per the merit list, candidates are called for counselling/ seat allotment. Shortlisted candidates must pay the fee to confirm their admission.
