IIT Goa offers BTech courses in four branches viz., CSE, EE, ME and MnC. Deciding the best branch among all the branches depends on various factors that are important to candidate. Some of the important point to consider while deciding the best branch of IIT Goa are mentioned-below:

1. Placements Opportunities: The common perception among students is that CSE has good placements among all the branches of Engineering. Before making the decision, it is important to look at the branch-wise placements of that particular college. Same applies to IIT Goa! In 2024, a total of 161 recruiters participated in the placement process and placed 116 students of BTech and MTech in new-age job profiles. The branch-wise placement details of IIT Goa placements for the Class of 2024 are presented below:

So, the placement stats of 2024 shows that the highest average package was offered to MnC branch followed by the CSE branch.

2. Cuttoff: The common criteria upon the branch selection at IIT Goa is the cutoff required for admission. Looking at the IIT Goa cutoff (Round 1), CSE is the most competitive branch with a 2024 Round 1 closing rank of 4654 for the General category candidates. 3. Future Perspective: The third important factor of deciding the best branch of IIT Goa is to think about the long-term goals. If someone is interested in CS and have a passion for it, then choosing CS is a good option. CSE has a good future, but it’s stressful for those who don’t have interest in it. If a candidate has strong command on Mathematics, then combine Mathematics with Computers Science. Mathematics and Computing Engineering (MnC) branch at IIT Gaa trained students in Algorithm Development, Data Analytics and Scientific Computing. They have lots of opportunoties in the current market as well as in the future. 

As per unofficial online sources, IIT Goa alumni are working in leading national and multinational companies such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Oracle, TCS, Infosys, HCL, Adobe, etc. They are majorly involved in the Engineering sector. No, you cannot get admission to IIT Goa with a rank of 2267 in the IIT JAM exam. As per the IIT Goa cutoff 2026, the round three closing ranks ranged from 775 to 792 for the General AI category. Hence, admission to this college with the attained rank is not possible. 

But you can get into NIT Srinagar with the attained rank. For this college, the latest cutoff ranged from 1934 to 2646 for the General AI quota. See the table below to know which MS course can be availed.

In addition to the course fee, candidates are also required to pay the application fee while JEE registration. The same for BTech at IIT Goa through JEE Main official website is INR 1,000 for boys and for girls (of General/ Gen-EWS/ OBC (NCL categories), it is INR 800.

• The GATE COAP counselling 2025 has now concluded with the release of Round 10 seat allotment offers for admission to ME/MTech courses. The GATE 2026 registration is anticipated to begin in the fourth week of August 2025.

Yes, IIT Goa offers a two-year MTech spread across four semesters. Admission to this course is based on GATE score followed by COAP Counselling. All MTech specialisations offered at IIT Goa are mentioned below:

Indian Institute of Technology Goa, through seven schools of study, offers postgraduate, undergraduate, and Ph.D. courses to students. These courses are offered across Engineering and several other streams. No, candidates can only get into IIT Goa for M.Tech on the basis of GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) scores followed by COAP counselling. There is no provision for Management quota or direct entry available at the college. For more details, students can reach out to the admission office of IIT Goa or can directly visit the official website of IIT Goa. The seats are limited so apply early as soon as possible. Prior preparation is very important as the competition is very high and seats are limited.

Candidates need to complete a master's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with 60% aggregate or CPI 6/10 or equivalent. (55% aggregate or CPI 5.5/10 or equivalent for SC/ST) to apply for IIT Goa PhD programme. Candidates who have completed their bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Engineering/ Technology with a minimum of 70% aggregate or CPI 7 (65% aggregate or 6.5 CPI for SC/ ST candidates) can also apply.

Candidates applying for PhD course at IIT Goa have to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 200. There is a relaxation in the application fee for SC/ ST/ PwD/ EWS/ female candidates. The fee for such aspirants is INR 200. Aspirants need to pay the application fee via any of the online payment modes.

IIT Goa applications usually open in second week of June every year. The applications closes by the end of June. The institute also conducts a written test followed by interview to shortlist aspirants for the PhD programme. Aspirants with a valid score in GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, etc. can also apply for the PhD course.

The tuition fee of BTech at IIT Goa is INR 8 lakh. They need to pay a one-time payment of INR 7,000. Candidates need to pay the course fee as the last step of admission process to confirm admission. This number is taken from official sources. It can change.
