IIIT Kottayam has strong academics and placements, but it needs better facilities and connectivity.
Placements: 83% of eligible students got placed. 128 out of roughly 154 eligible students (B.Tech and M.Tech combined) were placed. Nearly 170 job offers were made. The highest package is 45 LPA. The average package is 12 LPA, and the median is 10 LPA. Major recruiting companies include Amazon, NVIDIA, IBM, Bosch, and Deloitte. The exact internship percentage is not mentioned, but it will be around 21-22 internships. Top roles are SDE, data scientist, cybersecurity analyst, consultant, and system engineer.
Infrastructure: We had 1Gbps Wi-Fi with seamless coverage in academic blocks, but Wi-Fi in hostels, especially outside, can be poor and inconsistent. Classrooms are spacious and well-maintained but not centrally air-conditioned, equipped with necessary teaching aids to support effective learning. You will only find one ground to play all the sports; hostels are decent, and rooms are shared by three people each. Electricity problems exist in outside hostels, and like many other college hostels, food is the worst, less spicy, though most students find it satisfactory over time, with canteen food being much better.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, and the teaching quality is average, neither good nor bad. The curriculum is relevant, and I think it is one of the best curricula in India. It makes the students industry-ready. The exams are okay. The pass percentage may be above 90%.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in technology and its career opportunities. The campus is peaceful and green, but located in a remote area. Scholarships are available, and student clubs are active, but fests are average.

Strong curriculum with good placements and a growing campus environment.
Placements: Placements at our college are above average, with the highest package reaching up to 50 LPA and an average package of around 12 LPA. Many reputed companies such as Amazon, IBM, Bosch, Infosys, Jio, TCS, and Cognizant visit the campus for recruitment, offering good opportunities to student across various branches.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available 24/7 in both campus and hostels. Hostel facilities are great for girls, but 1st-year boys have to stay outside campus. However, proper transportation would made available for them. The quality of food in mess is good and canteen prices are fair. Basic medical facilities are available inside campus. A proper indoor badminton court is not available on campus, and the overall sports facilities are somewhat average.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are well-qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is good. B.Tech curriculum is industry relevant and helps build core technical skills compared to private colleges, similar to IITs. Semester exams are fair, the most students pass with proper preparation.
Other: I would recommend this college as one of the best options for pursuing CSE, considering the quality of education and placement opportunities While the campus is still developing gradually, events and fests are organized in a budget-friendly manner and offer a great deal of enjoyment and student engagement.

It is a pretty average choice college for competitive students.
Placements: Placements of the campus are not as high as advertised and it is around 30%. The highest salary package offered is 45 LPA for the previous graduation batch on campus. The lowest salary package offered is 2 LPA which is not that great. The average salary package offered is 10 LPA that is only because it is being normalised by the high packages. Top recruiting companies like Nvidia, Ships, IBM, and TCS visit the college to hire students. Ships hire around 15 students, and Nvidia hires around 2-3 students only if they seem fit for the job. IBM and TCS companies offer a lot of jobs but some students get low salary packages. The role offered is mainly software development.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available throughout campus. Labs have mostly up-to-date equipment. The library is not often used but has an average amount of books. The quality of the food is bad, and most of the students resort to eat outside. It is manageable to eat the mess food as it does not give anybody food poisoning, etc. Medical facilities are basic almost like a school but they provide insurance to a hospital nearby. Sports is not given a lot of priority. Grounds are still in development. However, the college is known to be pretty good at cricket and volleyball while is also good.
Faculty: Teachers are as helpful as any other college. Almost all of them have doctorate degrees. Their teaching is not bad at all. The course curriculum is very relevant not only for exams in the college but also for other important exams. Semester exams are not as hard as university exams but not everyone passes the exams. The pass percentage is high.
Other: I chose this course because the course is a pretty trending course right now. It provides us an opportunity to learn about how most of the world works now. Events like cultural fest, freshers day, sports fests, and other religious days are also celebrated.

Most number of startups along with placements.
Placements: On our campus, nearly 81% of students got placed in 2024. Amazon, IBM, Bosch, TCS, Infosys, and Nissan are the top recruiters of IIITK. The highest package is 45 LPA and the average package is 12.7 LPA. The medium package is 10.5 LPA. 83% of students secured placements. A number of startups visited is 22 and the number of companies visited is 86.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi connections are pretty mediocre, they always disconnect in the middle. Labs are okay and classrooms are good. There is only a single library available on the whole campus which is decent enough with enough books. Hostel rooms are just okay to survive and the quality of food is below average in mess. The quality of food in canteen is decent and medical facilities are sufficient enough. Sports and games facilities are not that good but okay to play games like badminton and kabbadi.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They help us like friends in case of subject doubts. Many of them have graduated from top NITs and IITs, not only this they all have lots of experience. Our course curriculum helps us a lot. Because compared to many IITs and some NITs I can definitely say that our curriculum is better than those. The reason behind this is our campus follows a curriculum that is similar to that of IIIT Hyderabad which is considered one of the best curriculum. Semester exams on our campus are comparatively tough.
Other: We have 2 big fests conducted on our campus and some small fests for well-recognized festivals. The 2 fests are Adharv and Apoorv, these are consecutively conducted for even and odd sets. If our campus provides more space for playing games and extends its construction then we can play a lot all at a time.

Absolutely dissatisfied with the college because my college life became so bad in this college.
Placements: Only 50% of students are getting placed and the students in the placement cell are only getting opportunities and giving them to their friends. The highest package is 32 LPA. The lowest package is 3.6 LPA. The average package is around 6 LPA. Top recruiters are Nalasha, TCS, etc. Less than 25% of people got internships; among them, 50% are off campus.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is provided in labs and classrooms. And the infrastructure is good for labs and classrooms but the AC is not there in labs and classrooms. The food quality in the mess is good and the hostel facilities are good. Sports and games facilities are like a normal school, not up to my expectations.
Faculty: Teachers only provide the slides in the classroom. The curriculum is great for CSE students. Exam patterns are not good and the grading is so complicated that you will not understand it even in the full 4 years of your college. Passing percentage is 30 percent .
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to do computer science and engineering, as my JEE Main rank is around 29k so I got this college. Events and fests should be organized in a better way and colleges should provide more budget. The connectivity of college is so poor. Surrounding is so poor as it is a village that doesn't have more than 5 shops at all.

Good placements, highly academic-oriented, and provide lots of opportunities.
Placements: 80 to 90 percent of students get placed, and the rest pursue higher studies or start their startups. The highest package is 45 LPA, and the average is 13 LPA. Companies like Amazon, IBM, Bosch, Nissan, Nvidia, Jio, Cognizant, Deloitte, etc., hire students. 30-40% of students get internship opportunities. Mostly in startups and research institutes.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available, labs are high, and classrooms have smart boards, speakers, displays, charging ports, etc. They have both a physical and online library. Mess food is average. The medical clinic is available. There are football grounds, cricket turf, badminton court, basketball court, volleyball court, table tennis setup etc. Food courts and stores are available within the campus itself.
Faculty: The teaching quality is exceptional. All faculty members are Ph.D. scholars. The course curriculum is relevant and up-to-date, and it makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are not that difficult. Grading is relatively easy, so the pass percentage varies. The total marks are a sum of two quizzes, assignments, lab exams, and mid-sem and end-sem.
Other: They provide the best classes related to computer science. A lot of practical elements are included. It is highly academic-oriented. A techno-cultural fest called Apoorv happens yearly.

If you belong to the General AI category, a rank of 7000 should easily get you admitted to IIIT Kottayam, as its JEE Mains 2025 ECE cutoff was 35,831 in the first round and 55,182 in the last round. You also have the option to opt for other B.Tech branches, such as B.Tech. in Computer Science and En

Yes, with a 13,355 JEE Main rank, you're within IIIT Kottayam's CSE cutoff range (13,510–33,766 in 2025 Round 1), so admission is very likely if category and seat availability align.

No, there are no specific fee waivers for EWS (Economically Weaker Section) candidates at IIIT Kottayam and IIIT Dharwad. While these IIITs do have scholarships and may follow government guidelines for reservations, including EWS, they do not offer direct fee waivers based on the EWS certificate al
