IIIT Kottayam M.E./M.Tech Highlights 2025
The Institute offers MTech in online mode in one specialisation, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science to BTech graduates. The minimum and maximum duration of the MTech Programme is three and five years, respectively, from the date of admission. The programme is meant for working professionals under self-financing and sponsored categories. Admission to the programme is conducted twice a year basis the written test and personal interview. A self-paced programme comprising 60 credits where coursework of 32 credits will have to be completed within the first two years and the last two semesters will comprise project work of 14 credits each. Live online classes and virtual labs will be conducted on weekends by IIIT Kottayam faculty and industry experts. The programme is based on Continuous Evaluation System. JEE Main Round 6, has been released for admission to the BTech courses. As per IIIT Kottayam JEE Main cutoff 2023, the Round 6 closing rank was 30516 for General category candidates in All India quota for Computer Science Engineering. For female candidates in general category under All India quota, 34448 was the closing rank. BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.
As per the cutoff list released by IIIT Kottayam for admission to its flagship BTech programme the closing ranks for BTech in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) for the year 2020, 2021 & 2022 were 605, 579 & 902, respectively. This clearly shows that the closing rank for the CSE branch at IIIT Kottayam has recorded a significant decline. Also, the closing rank for BTech in Electronics & Commmunication Engineering (ECE) recorded an excessive decrease. In addition to this, the closing rank for Computer Science & Engineering (Cyber Security) branch with a slight decrease have been in the same slab.

Given below are the eligibility and selection criteria for admission to the M.Tech programme at the IIIT Kottayam:
- B.Tech./BE/AMIE degree in any discipline or MCA or MSc/MS degree in CS/IT/Mathematics/ Physics/Statistics with a minimum of 60% aggregate
- The candidate should be currently employed. Only the employment acquired after the award of the qualifying degree will be considered.
- Candidates are required to fill out the application fee through IIIT Kottayam official website by paying the registration fee. Candidates based on their marks in the qualifying examination will have to take the written test and interview conducted by the IIIT Kottayam.
