Bachelor of Statistical Data Science (Hons) - Batch of 2028

It is the best computer, mathematics, and statistics research institute in Asia.
Placements: There are 100% placements on my whole campus. The highest package in 2024 was 90 LPA and the lowest package was 11 LPA. The average package was 25 LPA. Companies like Kotak Mahindra Bank, Amazon, HDFC Bank, HSBC, Google, etc., visit the college for placements. 90% of students got internships from Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank and HSBC. The top role offered is a manager with a package of more than 50 LPA.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure of my college are more technological classrooms. Classrooms have screens, a projector, and two very large-size TVs. The library is very impressive in nature. Hostel food is much better as compared to other north Indian colleges. My course is also taught in online classes from other centers like ISI Bangalore and ISI Delhi. The hostel rooms are okay, and in each hostel room, one student can live. Sports and games are not very supportive in this college because everyone is very interested in research and interns only.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They are very high scholars who have secured their PGs and PhDs from Stanford, Oxford universities, etc. The course curriculum makes every student industry-ready at the end of the graduation. Finally, the difficulty level of semester exams is very tough than even IITs and NITs. The pass percentage is 45% at the end of each year. There are so many rules to pass and fail policies in ISI, Kolkata.
Other: Actually, there is no fee for the BSDS course for students whose parents' annual income is below 1 lakhs. Students whose parents' annual income as per the government income certificate is above 1 lakh to 6 lakhs then they have to pay Rs. 33,000 per semester. Students whose parents' annual income is above 6 Lacs means they have to pay 1 lakh per semester. For other courses, there are no semester or course fees. The campus life in this college is not better. The crowd is less as compared to the other colleges. Fests are not held too many in my college. Extracurricular activities like sports and coding workshops are only conducted.

Satisfied by the faculty, great placements every year, but not so good in infrastructure.
Placements: 100% placement with a decent package for everyone. The average package is 30L per annum, and the base package for everyone will be 20L per annum. There are many top recruiting companies in the financial sector that recruit us, like MORGAN STANLY, KPMG, and in technological sectors like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, etc. 95% of the students get internships from our course. Data analyst is the high-paid job which can be learned from our course.
Infrastructure: The faculty present here are the best faculty across the world. Unlike other professors, here in ISI, professors show interest in making students learn skills. Students get access to unlimited and fast Wi-Fi. Students have access to the library even on weekends but for a scheduled interval of time. Classrooms are always clean with a projector to project the information. The medical unit is free for students, and it will be accessible every time except on weekends.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful in making you learn things. They show interest in making you understand topics. The teaching quality is very good. The semesters are very hard, and it's worth it because of the package they provide. The pass percentage is like 35% for everyone in B.Start.

ISI Kolkata BSDS (Hons.) Programme.
Placements: Our batch is the first batch of BSDS course, hence there is no placement record available as of now because we will be the first graduation batch. But taking into consideration the placements of other courses, ISI has nearly 100% track record in all of them. Last year the highest package was 63 LPA and last to last year it was 89 LPA for MS QROR and MS QE courses respectively. The top companies visiting the campus are Adobe, Morgan Stanley, TCS, Cognizant, FAANG Companies, etc.
Infrastructure: For Bachelor of Statistical Data Science course, there is no hostel accommodation in any of the locations Kolkata, Bangalore, or Delhi. The classrooms are well-equipped with all the modern facilities like Wi-Fi, speakers, and projectors for the hybrid nature of the course. The quality of the mess food is quite good as expected from a hostel mess. The menu covers both North Indian and South Indian food styles.
Faculty: The faculty here are very much well-experienced in their particular field of research and they have many publications in highly reputed journals. The course is quite relevant for making students industry-ready in the field of data science. The semester exams are quite difficult in the sense that one cannot pass exams just by studying one day for the night like engineering colleges. Proper efforts need to be put in to get good grades as there is no relative grading system.
Other: I chose this course because it was a perfect blend of Maths and Computer Science. The course would have been better if it was in proper offline mode rather than being in hybrid mode. The campus life *** because there are not many events, the gender ratio is less, and in general, there is nobody to talk to casually.

ISI Kolkata - Bachelor of Statistical Data Science (Hons).
Placements: Our course was launched this year only and we will be the first graduation batch in 2028. According to placement scenario here at ISI Kolkata, almost everyone who opts for placements gets placed. The highest salary package offered last year was 63 LPA from MS QROR course. Top recruiters are BlackRock, TCS, Optiver, Morgan Stanley, and FAANG companies. Top roles are research analyst roles for data analysis.
Infrastructure: Classrooms have good modern-day facilities like Wi-Fi. Speakers and projectors are also there in the class. Library is too huge and has online OPAC also for e-resources. Hostel facilities are not available for BSDS students. But others have hostel facilities and it's quite good as it is single occupancy. Mess facilities are also well as expected from a hostel mess. Sports facilities are limited.
Faculty: Faculty members here are very knowledgeable in their fields. Almost everyone is either an alumnus of ISI or a Ph.D holder from IVY league. The course curriculum is relevant for almost anyone having an interest in Maths and Computer Science. In the first 2 years, the course is mathematics intensive and in the last 2 years, it is computer/data science intensive. Semester exams are difficult and one needs to study whole year to get good grades as there is no CGPA system.
Other: Gender ratio is bad, and funding people to talk causally is too hard here.

Knowing the ISI Kolkata's new BSDS course.
Placements: Our course was newly launched this year and hence there are no past statistics on placements. According to the placement record of ISI Kolkata, it's 100% for students who want a job in the industry. Mostly companies like Amazon, Apple, Optiver, Adobe, Morgan Stanley, TCS, Cognizant, Microsoft, etc., visit the campus regularly for recruitment. Most of the roles offered are data analyst, data scientist, risk manager, and some banking roles.
Infrastructure: Hostel accommodation for the BSDS course is not provided at any center including Kolkata. But the hostels given to other students are of single occupancy and have attached bathrooms too. The mess food is too good and it provides breakfast with dinner at Rs. 42 & Rs. 87 per meal. Lunch is only given on weekends.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified in their respective fields of research. They also published research papers in highly reputed journals. The course curriculum is highly relevant for engineering aspirants. Semester exams are hard as ISI follows an absolute grading policy. Studying for only one night before can really fail you in this course.
Other: The campus life is not good. Not many clubs are run by students, and not many events are organised.

Knowing the new BSDS course of ISI Kolkata
Placements: Our course is started this year only, hence no placement record is available. But considering past placement records of other courses, ISI has an impeccable number. The top recruiters were Adobe, Amazon, Apple, Google, BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, optiver etc. For roles like data scientist / analyst.
Infrastructure: The class is well equipped with all modern facilities. It has 2 air conditioners, 2 speakers , 1 desktop for the teacher, and 2 s project screen for students. Along with that, a whiteboard is also there. For the BSDS course, there is no hostel accommodation provided.
Faculty: The teachers are so well experienced and much more qualified in general. Each class is of 1 hour and 20 minutes, and each tutorial class is of 1 hour duration. The course curriculum is much relevant to modern-day industry jobs. The course is introduced for the purpose of making students industry-ready and also eligible for higher academic research. The semester exams are quite difficult in the sense that it can't be passed just by studying before the exam like in engineering colleges.
Other: The gender ratio is much worse, and the campus is not well maintained.

No, you cannot enter the BSDs programme of ISI Kolkata through IISER Aptitude Test (IAT). The JEE Main and CUET (UG) score have been used for admission to ISI Kolkata's Bachelor of Statistical Data Science (BSDS) program. The IAT is especially for admission to BS (Research) programs in IISers.
