Madras University Distance Education (IDE UNOM) Admission 2025: Last Dates, Eligibility, Fees, Application Process

Candidates must have passed graduation in any stream with more than 50% aggregate (45% for reserved category).

Students may apply for a distance learning course at Madras University both online and offline. Merit and entrance exams are used in the admissions process. While submitting an application to the University of Madras IDE, applicants must follow a few processes. The following is a list of the stores for the two procedures:

For the online application: 

• Applicants are required to visit the official website of the university.

• Register themselves through the admission portal. 

• Select the desired course and fill the application form with the adequate details.

• Submit the application form with requisite documents and pay the application fees through online Net Banking or via Debit/Credit Card.

 For the offline application: 

• Students can obtain an application form by visiting the college campus and have to pay INR 200 for the application form. 

• Fill the application form with all the required academic & personal details and choose the desired course. 

• Attach the requisite documents and submit the application form.

Documents Required

The following Certificates (Original) should be enclosed while not fail :

• 10th Mark List.
• Intermediate Mark List.
• PG Degree first Year Statement of Marks.
• UG Degree Certificate with Statement of Marks

Students can enrol in remote learning programmes at University of Madras (Madras University) all year round, from the academic year (June to May) through the calender year (January to December). The Madras University Institute of Distance Education offers instruction in a variety of subjects, including science, the arts, business, management, and information technology (IT). The University of Madras founded Madras University Distance Education (UNOM IDE) in 1981. Admission to Madras University's distance learning programme is merit-based. The admission to the courses is done based on first-come-first-basis. Hence, admission to this college is not tough. 

The following are the minimal  scores usually required to be admitted to Madras University Distance Education (IDE) MBA programs for the 2023 batch:

1. The educational prerequisite is a bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 50% (45% in reserved categories).
2. Minimum 70 percentile for CAT/XAT, 65 percentile for CMAT, 55 percentile for MAT, and 65 percentile for ATMA
3. TANCET- Minimum cutoff announced following the test
4. Work Experience: For the general category, a minimum of two years of work experience is preferred.For reserved categories, one year.New students are welcome to apply as well. Experience is a benefit.
5. No upper age limit; valid scores from national MBA entrance exams, academic records, identification, proof of age, etc.
   Academic performance review, GD, PI, and entrance exam comprise the selection process.

The total tuition fee for BA courses can vary according to the specialisation a student wishes to pursue. While the total tuition fee for the majority of BA courses at the Institute of Distance Learning, University of Madras is INR 16,700, the tuition fee for B.A. in French and B.A. in Sociology stands at INR 25,400.
 

The academic cycle of IDE Madras University for MBA courses runs twice in a year i.e., July to December and January to June. Hence, candidates can apply in the programme according to these tenure. However, the academic year 2024 admission was extended up to 30 Sep 2024. Currently, candidates can apply for the admission to upcoming MBA batch.
