In order to avail BHU Scholarship, students must fulfill the following criteria:

MBBS admission to BHU, Institute of Medical Sciences, is mainly based on NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) Candidates must have the minimum percentage marks required in NEET and they attend MCC (Medical Counseling Committee) counselling. Seats are allotted on the basis of NEET category, candidates’ choice, availability of seats. Once seats are allotted, candidates are verified and the required entry fee is paid. To secure MBBS admission at IMS BHU, candidates must register for NEET UG entrance exam. After appearing for the exam, they must register for the subsequent NEET UG counselling for seat allocation. No separate application is required to get admitted to the MBBS programme of the institute.

Over the past three years, the cut-off ranks required for IMS BHU BDS admission have shown a declining trend. In 2024, the closing rank for the last round of BDS admission was 28,901 for the General AI category candidates. The same was 25,669 in 2023 and 23,284 in 2022. Candidates seeking admission to the BDS course of IMS BHU Varanasi must apply through the NEET UG exam. The NEET UG registration process is conducted online. The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi, offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in various specializations. IMS BHU is a very cost-effective college as it is a government college. This college is ranked 5th best college in terms of medical and 18th best in dental. For the course of Doctorate of Medicine [MD] INR 22,860 1st Year fees with eligibility - post graduation with a duration of 3 years so approximately would be near to 60 to 70 thousand. 

For admission to IMS BHU, the NEET MDS cutoff 2024 was released for the last round. For the SC AI category candidates, the Cutoff was concluded during Round 1, wherein the available course for the category was MDS in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics having the closing cutoff of 654, for the SC AI category candidates. However, the IMS BHU NEET MDS Cutoff for the ST AI category is not known. 

The last year 2022 cutoff ranks for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU other than General category are - 1679 for OBC, 56587 for SC, 96058 for ST, 1442 for EWS, and 72502 for PWD. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in NEET exam, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State.

To be eligible for BSc course at IMS BHU, Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) to be eligible for admission Further, they must also appear for NEET UG, the accepted entrance exam for BSc (Nursing) admission ar IMS BHU. They must hold all the required documents to prove their eligibility during the admission process.

Institute of Medical Science or IMS offers a BDS in affiliation with BHU. The institute has not yet released any official placement report of BDS placements. Based on the available information, IMS BHU graduates are placed at top recruiting organisations, such as AIIMS, Fortis Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals, Max Hospitals, etc. The median salary packages offered during UG (5-year) placements as per the overall BHU NIRF Report 2024 are presented in the table below:

The application forms for IMS BHU admission are released at different times depending on the program. Here are the relevant dates for each program:

• BHU MBBS/BDS 2023: The application form is already released and NEET-qualified candidates can fill it out till July 25
• BHU MBA Admission 2023: The application form was released on October 03, 2022
• BHU B.V.Sc Admissions: The last date to apply is August 18, 2023
• BHU Fellowship 2023: The application form needs to be submitted in the Office of the Director, IMS, BHU, Varanasi - 221005 by July 08, 2023
• BHU Senior Resident: The application form is currently invited for the vacant post of Senior Resident (Not Linked with Course) in the Faculty of Medicine, Ayurveda and Dental Sciences, IMS, BHU

Institute of Medical Sciences is the medical school of Banaras Hindu University which is residential and co-educational just like the other institutions of the university. IMS BHU is ranked 8th in the Medical Category and 18th in the Dental Category.Institue of Medical Science- BHU is a public university operated under Banaras Hindu University.The MBBS fee is approximately INR30000 (tution fee)+hostel fee seperately. The cutoff for the college was INR 32000.The fee for first year student is INR 13410 and from second onward it is INR 11610. The total fee for the course is INR 164000.

Institute of Medical Sciences BHU does not offer direct admission. IMS BHU primarily relies on national-level entrance exams like NEET-UG for undergraduate programs (like MBBS and BSc Nursing) and NEET-PG, NEET-SS, and NEET-MDS for postgraduate and super-specialty courses. After qualifying the relevant entrance exam, candidates must participate in the counseling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee.
