B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2022
3.4
I am satisfied with this college.
Placements: Less than 5% of students got placed on our campus. Core companies do not visit our campus. Very few students get internships. Students get placed in companies related to other fields.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is average. The hostel quality and accommodation rooms are good. The security and wardens are good. The quality of the food served in the mess is not up to the mark. The canteen charges are affordable.
Faculty: Our faculty members are not up to the mark. Most of them are less experienced. The curriculum activities are fewer. Exams and classes are arranged with respect to Kerala Technological University.
Other: I opted for this course as I am interested in it. Campus events and festivals are well-organised.

Review of Jawaharlal College of Engineering and Technology.
Placements: Around 10% of students are placed. While admission they will say there will be 140 companies to recruit, but there will be only 4-6 companies that visit to hire students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities in this college are good, but the atmosphere is not good. They will not allow students to park their cars on the campus. If students brought cars they better park them on the roads. Wi-Fi is available but students can use only 30 MB. I do not know about the hostel and mess because I am a day scholar, but I heard from our friends that it is the best. Classrooms are fine, and there is no separate hour for physical education if students are interested in sports and games.
Faculty: I am not satisfied with the teachers. Some teachers are fine and well qualified but some do not know how to even teach and do not know what they are teaching. Some of them do not even interact with students, and teaches like a robot. Our first semester results are not out till now but the pass percentage is 50%.
Other: In this college, only one or two events and art days are conducted for that they collect Rs 1,500, and a sports day is also held.

Our college has good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: There are many companies offering jobs in the college. The top recruiting companies are Paytm, Infosys, Wipro, TCS, CSS Corp, etc. So many students are placed on campus drive. The highest salary offered is Rs.45000 - Rs. 60000 per month and the lowest salary offered is Rs.15000 - Rs.25000 per month.
Infrastructure: In our college, smart classrooms, high-tech lab facilities, and Wi-Fi are also provided to students. There are good labs and a huge library with all types of books available for studies. Drinking water facilities provided help students so much. The canteen and cafeteria are also very good. The indoor and outdoor groups help students with sports and games activities.
Faculty: All the teachers in our college are qualified. The teaching quality is above average and the teachers are well connected to students. The course curriculum is relevant. The exams are difficult and they are conducted by the university. The pass percentage is average. Teachers are knowledgeable in their subjects and help students.
Other: I am interested in mechanical engineering so I chose the mechanical course. The best things about my course are the huge scope in industrial areas in abroad countries and good salary packages also. The practical class needs improvement for mechanical engineering students. Others activities are good on campus.

Our college has really good faculty members, especially in the mechanical department.
Placements: In our batch, placements were good, but placements of our seniors were far better than our batch. I got placed in TCS. Some of my friends got placed in Trident company. Some of our seniors got selected in Fluor Daniel. I also got a call for a 1-year internship through campus placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good here. There are very modern classrooms with nice furniture and indoor games. There is an auditorium with free Wi-Fi connectivity for every student. Our college has a spacious library with a vast number of books. It is a green campus. Overall, our college has everything which a student dream of.
Faculty: The course curriculum here is designed accordingly. Faculty members are good. Our university has an affiliation with all the colleges in Kerala. Its curriculum is best for theoretical as well as practical learning. Technical exposure to practical knowledge is the need. Our college provides all these things inside the campus.
Other: Our college organises the biggest campus event.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2020

It is an average college for average students.
Placements: I was the placement coordinator for the mechanical engineering batch of 2020. Less than 2% of students from the mechanical engineering batch of 2020 got placed on campus. The students were mostly taken to placements in other colleges for IT companies, and very few companies came to the campus to offer jobs. The companies that came to this college were offering sales positions in the companies. No one from the mechanical engineering batch has been offered any internships from college placements in reality. The package offered was 1.5 Lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: There are adequate facilities like labs and classrooms. Some of the equipment needs to be replaced, but most of them are good enough. The library is a bit limited in terms of the variety of books available, but it has some science journals and magazines. There is no Wi-Fi for students on campus. The quality of food available in the canteen is adequate for day scholars but not good enough in terms of variety for the average hostel-residents. There are proper medical facilities available on the campus, and it also has a hospital nearby, run by the senior people of the college management. Sports facilities are adequate. There is also a gym on the campus with a certified trainer.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are very helpful in the mechanical department and are very knowledgeable and experienced in the subjects. The college is affiliated with the Kerala Technological University (KTU). The course curriculum currently available is different as opposed to when I was studying there, but it is seemingly less relevant but easier and supposedly makes the students industry-ready. The semester exams and their easiness aspects, depends upon the university, but the exams are conducted in a very strict and fair way. Malpractices are not tolerated in any way by the college. The pass percentage for the mechanical engineering batch was rarely above 20%.
Other: The mechanical engineering batch of 2020 had close to 80 students in the joining year, i.e., 2016. The number went down as some students dropped out, and some transferred to different colleges under different universities. I chose B.Tech mechanical engineering course because the placement rate was much higher, and the mechanical engineers were offered the better salary packages in the college. But since that time, the college has undergone several changes owing to some unforeseen events which caused the college to drop down from its good standards to a much lower level. This goes for the management as well as the teaching staff. The events conducted have only started picking up their old standards in my final year. The college conducts an arts fest called Bloom and a national level tech fest called NSITE, which are attended by students all over Kerala. Extracurricular activities include the celebration of different festivals like Onam. The students at the campus come from all parts of Kerala, from Kasargod to Trivandrum and are from a wide range of backgrounds. There are scholarships available to school students who attend the tech fest and present remarkable projects, and also to students with 95% marks in their 12th standard exams.

I am satisfied with the faculty and infrastructure only.
Placements: Almost 5% of the students got placements. Studies are fine here, but there are no good placements. The management is not that good. Facilities are there, but the opportunities are less. If you have the courage to face, then join here.
Infrastructure: The college provides free Wi-Fi facility. The college provides good infrastructure. There are good lab facilities. The hostel is good, but no one stays there. The mess is good for dinner only. The college offers good ambience, and it is near to town. There are good classrooms. There is a huge library. Sports have a lot to do here. If you are interested in sports, you should take the initiative and do the necessary. The college will not help you, and they will only appreciate you.
Faculty: Faculty members here are good. There are good teachers, especially in the mechanical department. Some teachers are trying to pursue a PhD. The fest was a great event, but after some years, it was not conducted. There are good teachers, especially in the mechanical department. Some technical fests like Site are conducted here.

I am dissatisfied with college as it is the worst college.
Placements: The college has some good infrastructure compared to other colleges in our district. It also has strong and wealthy management who had managed to create a huge business empire out of this education business. But the number of students advertised to be placed is not true. Students who got jobs by their own efforts and additional certifications were claimed to be placed by the college. The placement cell or anyone didn't do anything to get them a job. None of the companies other than some finance companies or BPO like Sutherland visited our college for placements. Less students from our batch got placed through off-campus placements which they got on their own efforts. The placement percentage is not good as the number of students who even got placed for the namesake, and not even 1 student out of 10 students of the total batch intake got placed. Hardly just 5% of the students got placed only from ECE and CSE branches. For an institution specialised for its aeronautical engineering branch had nothing other than 1 or 2 placements for namesake out of 2 divisions of students. Overall, placements are pathetic in NGI, which is the same in every college in the district except government colleges. The BPOs like Sutherland somehow managed to offer a salary package of 2.4 to 2.9 LPA. None of the students who got placed had joined the job as they got calibre to find a better job than that. The management was very rude to students earlier. However, they have changed after some suicide incident by a student.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and labs are just okay, considering that it was a new college when I joined. We didn't feel like lacking anything in the mechanical labs, and computer labs were way more than enough and numerous. But they are meant for conducting online exams like railway, bank, GATE, etc., which are intended to gain money out of them.
Faculty: It is a private self-financing college, and we cannot complain about the competitiveness of the faculty members. Some of them are good, but some are just manageable, and even some are worse. Good and manageable teachers somehow try their best to deliver the most. The course curriculum is very much outdated with old technologies. Calicut University is one of the worst universities to pursue a degree.
Other: I chose mechanical engineering because it is my desire. But joining engineering, be it mechanical, civil and electrical, and there is no liability to the society that the degree holder should get a job out of it. Sometimes it is a burden to have an engineering degree over a regular degree. Pursuing a course from Calicut University is another major dream I had. It is the worst university considering the way it works, exam patterns, valuation, result publication and other things. Calicut University is the worst university to join.

Please don't join the college.
Placements: No good companies visited the college Only some call centres and some others visited the college. No core companies visited the college. The management charges ?10000 for placement training. But there was no use of that money. The college offered placements from Infosys, Tata, Microsoft. But no people were came.
Infrastructure: Not bad. Classrooms were not bad. Have machines in the lab. Good seminar room. But the college was very bad. It was a concentration camp. Please don't join the college. They will offer good placements. But it is not like that. Very bad canteen and mess hall. Very bad hostel food.
Faculty: Fair. Some of the staffs were good and there were some staffs who only supports the management. I was in Mechanical department. Our HOD was a good person. The staffs of EC department was very rude. Teachers had no role in the college. Other disciplinary staffs have the role. Some of the staffs were good, especially our Hod and some staffs in our department.
Other: Very bad experience with the college management and some staff who supports the college. It was not a college. It was a concentration cell. There was no celebration, college day, fest for us.
