For admission to JIPMER BSc in Nursing course, aspirants must be Class 12 pass with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Botany & Zoology, and English as one of the subjects. The qualifying exam should have been passed with at least 50% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ST/OBC; 45% aggregate for PwD category candidates). Moreover, the applicants age at the time of admission should be at least 17 years, or candidate must turn 17 on or before December 31 of the year of admission. There is not upper age limit.Furthermore, candidates seeking admission must hold the relevant documents as well. These are required for verification purposes by the institute.

JIPMER Puducherry admit candidates to the MD programmes based on INI CET scores. Hence, the cutoff is released based on exam score and seat availability. In 2024, the closing rank was most competitive for MD in Radio Diagnosis course - 14. This was followed by MD in Paediatrics - 104 and General Medicine - 125. Candidates with exam score equal to or more than the cutoff become eligible to apply for admission.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted once in a year in offline or paper-pencil based test (PBT) mode. The national-level exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). However, there are some specialisations, in which the admission can be granted on merit-basis. Candidates who are Class 12 pass with PCM/Biology and English as a subject with at least 50% aggregate (for general candidates) can apply. The aspirants must meet the age limit as well.
