PHASE 1: MIT DAT (Design Aptitude Test)

PHASE 2: Studio Test and Personal Interview

Studio Test and Pe­rsonal Interview are conducte­d at the MITID campus in Pune. The admission proce­dure consists of two phases. In the se­cond phase, candidates will undergo studio te­sts followed by personal intervie­ws at the Institute in Pune. The­ results for shortlisted candidates will be­ announced on the MITID website­. Shortlisted candidates will not rece­ive separate call le­tters but are require­d to attend the studio tests and inte­rview as it completes the­ selection process. The­ procedures, grades, and we­ightage for selection are­ decided by the Admission Committe­e each year. The­ norms for selection rest sole­ly with them, and their decisions re­garding matters related to admission proce­ss and selection are final.

The last to submit MIT DAT application form is February 29, 2024. Maharashtra Institute of Technology Institute of Design offers three years BDes programme across eleven specialisation. BDes is the flagship course of the Institution Candidates are required to appear in the MIT DAT (Design Aptitude Test) to get into BDes programme. A valid score in MIT DAT followed by personal interview and studio test. 

BDes is the  flagship programme of MIT Institute of Design Pune. The admission fee of BDes programme for the academic year 2023 is INR 3.16 lakhs (Tuition Fee).  Candidates are required to attempt the University-level entrance exam MIT DAT (Design Aptitute Test) for admission to BDes. The application fee for MIT DAT is INR 3000.  As per the placement report of 2023 The highest package and average package offered during MIT Institute of Design placements 2023 stood at INR 27 LPA and INR 8 LPA, respectively. Further, the minimum package offered during MIT Institute of Design placements 2023 stood at INR 5 LPA. The cut-off marks of MITID DAT depends upon multiple factor .

The factors -It will be based on the total no of canditate which have appeared in the exam, number of candidates who applied for the exam, the difficulty level of the exam, etc. Based on this MITID DAT Cut Off candidates will be selected to appear for the next rounds which are Studio Tests and Personal interviews.

To apply for NIFT counseling at MIT Institute of Design, interested candidates must first fill out the online application form available on the official website of MIT Institute of Design. The counseling process for NIFT is expected to be conducted online as a centralized seat-allotment process, and students will be shortlisted based on their NIFT rank and choice filling. Additionally, MIT Institute of Design conducts its own counseling process based on the final merit list prepared by considering the candidate's performance in the MITID DAT. The seat allotment to various design courses at MIT Institute of Design will be based on the merit rank of the candidate in the MITID DAT entrance exam. Candidates who have qualified in the entrance exam will be considered for admission, and they will have to pay the seat acceptance and admission fee to complete the admission process. The counseling schedule for MITID DAT will be announced by the institute at the time of the declaration of results.

The application process for admission at MIT Institute of Design (MITID) generally concludes in November and February. Candidates willing to be admitted at MITID must fill out the application form through the institute’s official website by paying an application fee of INR 3,000 for Indian applicants and INR 4,500 for NRI, PIO, OCI and foreign nationals. Also, candidates will have to appear for the MITID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and should aim to score well in it to get shortlisted for the Studio test and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.

Step 1: Fill the application form on the official website of the institution. The mode of application is online. A non-refundable amount of INR 3000 is to be paid while submitting the application form.

Step 2: Selection round of MIT Institute of Design includes studio tests followed by personal interviews conducted separately. The list of shortlisted candidates for the Studio test and Personal Interview will be announced on the respective websites of MIT ID Pune. Step 3: As soon as the selection rounds are over, candidates need to pay a fee to confirm their seat in the Institiution.

MIT Institute of Design provides scholarships to meritorious students. The institute provides both full and partial tuition fee waivers to 5% of students every year. The scholarship is given on the basis of the performance of the student or his/her financial needs. The interview panel decides who is eligible for the scholarship during the admission process.

Yes, MIT Institute of Design does offer a doctoral level programme i.e. PhD in Design under MIT-WPU’s School of Design. PhD In Design covers a minimum duration of three years. The eligibity criteria is three year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate. The slection process involve entrance test conducted by MITWPU. Candidates who fulfills the eligibilty criterion  is qualified for the etrance test.
