NID Gandhinagar Cutoff 2025: Check NID DAT Previous Years Cutoff Ranks

As per the information available online, NID Gandhinagar admissions are entrance-based. Hence, direct admission is not offered to the candidates. Candidates seeking admission to MDes programmes have to appear for the DAT prelims and DAT mains. The institute shortlist candidates for the Mains based on score in prelims. Further, in the Mains exam, candidates have to take the studio test followed by an interview round.

National Institute of Design (NID) Gandhinagar was established in 2004. It offers programme in various specializations. The mode of application is online only and for admission process applicants must appear Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims and mains. 

In NID Placements 2022, there was a participation of 124 recruiters. Students received about 400 job offers. Microsoft offered jobs to 30 students during the placement drive. 

The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the admission hanbooks for the B.Des and M.Des courses. It contains the list of exam cities for DAT Prelims exam for each course.

As per information given in the M.Des Admission Handbook, the DAT Prelims exam in the following cities - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kurukshetra, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada.

The candidate can select their choice of exam city when filling out the NID DAT 2024 application form. 

Yes, the candidate was given an opportunity to edit the submitted application form. The NID application form 2024 correction window was open from December 8 (12 noon) to December 10 (4 pm), 2023.

Using the edit option, the candidate could edit all information except the following:

• Name of the Candidate

• Date of Birth

• Registered Mobile Number 

• Registered Email ID

Also note that if the candidate changed his or her applied category, then any applicable additional application form fees had to be paid by the candidate. Further, no refund of excess fees was made in the case of any category change.

NID Gandhinagar has a total intake of 127 for MDes programme. Out of the total intake, some seats are reserved for SC, ST and other categories. Below is category-wise reservation for NID Gandhinagar:

A candidate seeking admission to a NID Gandhinagar MDes course must fulfil the criteria mentioned below:

• Bachelor's degree of at least four years duration in any stream from a recognised university. 
• Pass in graduation and only candidates born on or after 1 July 1991 are eligible to apply for admission to the General Category and EWS Category. Only Indians born after 1 July 1988 may apply for admission if they belong to the Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBCNCL), Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST).

The candidate needs to report for the exam at 8 am. Gates closing time is 9.30 am. 

The B.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 1 pm; meanwhile, the M.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 12.30 am.

The DAT Prelims for the B.Des programme will be conducted in a paper-and-pencil/pen mode. The question paper may  incude both textual and visual questions. Other details like duration of the exam, marking scheme, etc. will be published in the DAT Prelims admit card.

The DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des programme will be conducted offline and include a mix of objective and subjective questions. The paper will have a total of 100 questions.

Candidates need to complete a MDes degree from an accredited institution or recognised university of India to apply for NID Gandhinagar PhD course. Aspirants who have passed MPhil Design from a recognised institution or university of India are also eligible to apply for PhD programme. 

Candidates with Master of Architecture/ Fine Art/ Applied Art or BDes from NID with three-year professional or teaching experience can also apply.
