National Institute of Fashion Technology Kannur is a government institute established in 2008. It has a great infrastructure and is equipped with great facilities, well-equipped design studios, a well-stocked library, computer labs etc. It offers BDes programme for a duration of four years in four specialisations. Candidates are required to appear for NIFT Entrance Exam and the students are accepted on the basis of merit. The total seat intake is 176 and the total fee for the is INR 13,15,700 and thr Average Package offered was Rs4.1L.
While in the other hand the institute offers four years of full-time BFTech in Apparel Technology. The candidates have to appear for General Ability Test (GAT) and are accepted based on their performance.The total seat intake for this programme is 45. Self-attested certificates of qualifying examination, i.e.10+2/degree (marks sheet and certificate)
In case the candidate has appeared for qualifying exam/compartment (of final year/semester) and the result is due, the date sheet /admit card for examination has to be uploaded.
Birth certificate (Secondary School Mark Sheet & Certificate) (Original and Photocopy).
SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD certificate that is issued in the name of candidate.
Certificate of Medical Fitness to be signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format.
Self declaration for seeking provisional admission only in case, the result of qualifying examination is yet to be declared.

NIFT Kannur and Bhopal offer a strong B.Des foundation, but specializations can differ. Kannur might be stronger in textiles .For broader design exposure (Fashion, Communication etc.), Bhopal could be a good option.

NIFT Kannur offers B.Des programs in Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Textile Design, and Knitwear Design. Each programme admits 44 students, making a total of 176 students for B.Des at NIFT Kannur. To be eligible, you need to pass the 12th class with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) and have a good score in the NIFT Entrance Exam.

NIFT is a national-level design entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). The exam is conducted once every year and it consist of two parts, i.e, first one is, written exam and second is, situation test/personal interview.
- Written Exams - It comprise the GAT and CAT. The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while only BDes and MDes candidates need to take the CAT.
- Situation Test/ Personal Interview - BDes candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in the Situation Test, whereas PG candidates need to appear in a Personal Interview. The only exception is BFTech program, where the admission merit list will be prepared solely based on GAT scores.
The FINAL score of NIFT 2024 for the other programs will be prepared by giving weightage to the written exams and Situation Test/ Personal Interview.
The scores or merit rank of NIFT will be considered for admission to design courses offered by the NIFT participating institutes. Currently, there are 18 participating institutes that offer the following courses - BDes, MDes, BFTech, MFTech, and MFM courses.

NIFT Kannur predominantly does degree programs, but they have some Diploma and certificate courses such as Fashion Fit and Style, Apparel Production, and other stuff like CAD for Fashion or Surface Embellishment. These are not all on offer every year, so it would be much better to check it on their

NIFT Cutoff 2025 has been released for Round 5 for various categories. During the Round 5 cutoff, the closing ranks ranged between 226 and 2374 wherein BDes in Fashion Communication turned out as the toughest course to get into National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kannur for the students belong
