STEP 1: RIT Chennai Application Process 2026
Candidates seeking admission in BE/ BTech have to apply for TNEA after completing Class 12. Further, after getting enrolled in BTech, aspirants have to fill out the application form on the institute's website. For all other courses and admission via Management Quota, candidates can directly apply for on the official website of the institute provided they meet the eligibility requirements.
STEP 2: Selection
Candidates need to meet the eligibility requirements to get admission in the institute. Aspirants are shortlisted based on their merit in the qualifying exam. For BE/ BTech programme, aspirants have to apply and wait for TNEA result. JEE scores are preferred for Merit Management admissions.
STEP 3: TNEA Counselling
This additional steps is only applicable for candidates seeking admission in BE/ BTech programme. BE/ BTech applicants have to participate in the TNEA Counselling for a seat in the institute. The seats are allotted to candidates based on their TNEA rank. Aspirants should score equal or above RIT Chennai cutoff for admission to BE/ BTech programme.
STEP 4: Admission Confirmation
Once the BE/ BTech candidates get a seat in the institute, they are required to fill out the institute's application form. Selected aspirants seeking admission in other courses have to directly report at the campus after filling out the form for document verification and pay the RIT Chennai fee to confirm their seat in the institute.

RIT Chennai offers direct admission to the second year of BTech/ B.E. programmes through Lateral Entry. Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology offers UG level Engineering courses in a full-time mode under the affiliation of Anna University. These are B.E. and BTech courses. The duration of these courses is four years. Besides, the institute also offers lateral entry in the BE/ BTech programmes. Admission to lateral entry and courses via Government Quota are offered based on merit of the candidates. The institute considers JEE Main scores for Merit Management admissions.
The application fee for TNEA is INR 500 for the general candidates and INR 250 for SC /SCA /ST category belonging to Tamil Nadu. The application fee can be paid using payment modes like Credit card/ Debit card/ Net banking/ Demand Draft. The application process includes the below steps:

- Login: Candidates who register successfully are issued login details that include a username and password
- Fill out the online application form: Candidates have to complete the online application form which has 7 parts. One part of them is the application fee payment.

- Download the online form: The online form can be downloaded after the final submission. Candidates must keep the downloaded copy with them. It is not meant to be sent to the authorities.
