School of Distance Education, Bharathiar University (also known as BU SDE) is a Public/ Government School that was established by the Bharathiar University in 1991 in Coimbatore. The School has two online portals, namely Students Support Service (SSS) and Centre Support Service (CSS) for the students to gain information regarding any of the centres. It has more than 40 Learner Support Centres across Tamil Nadu. Currently, it offers UG, PG and PG diploma programmes in various fields such as Business Administration, Management, Education, Commerce, Technology & Management, Computer Science and more. These courses are offered across all centres. Candidates can choose their centres according to their convenience. Spot admission is done for all courses in the office of the School of Distance Education at Bharathiar University campus and other centres. A total 15 UG and PG programmes have been offered, namely BBA, MCom, MA, MSc, MSW, MCA, B.Ed, BCA, BSc, BCom, BA, BSW, B.Lib.I.Sc, MSc and MBA. The duration of all UG programmes is three years. The MCA programm is also 3 years duartion, whereas other PG programmes have a course duration of two years. Apart from these courses, the School also offers PG diploma in various streams, such as Fitness Management, Computer Applications, Yoga Education, International Business etc. PG diploma is offered with a course duration of one year.
