On Admissions
Q:   Can I join SJB Institute of Technology without Karnataka PGCET for MBA?
A:

Yes, you can join SJB Institute of Technology (SJBIT) for an MBA without taking the Karnataka PGCET. SJBIT also accepts scores from other national-level entrance exams such as CMAT, MAT, or CAT for MBA admissions. Additionally, there are management quota seats available, which may not require entrance exam scores but usually involve a direct admission process based on academic performance and an interview. For detailed admission criteria and processes, it’s best to contact the SJBIT admissions office directly.

Q:   How many students can do MBA at SJB Institute of Technology?
A:

SJB Institute of Technology (SJBIT) typically admits a certain number of students for its MBA programme each year, depending on factors such as available infrastructure, faculty resources, and demand. While specific intake numbers can vary, it's common for management institutes to accommodate anywhere from 60 to 120 students per MBA batch. For the exact number of seats available and any updates regarding intake capacity for the MBA programme at SJBIT, it's best to check the official institute website or directly contact the admissions office for the most accurate information.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for admission to MBA at SJB Institute of Technology?
A:

The eligibility criteria for admission to the MBA programme at SJB Institute of Technology (SJBIT) include a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates). Additionally, candidates need to qualify in a national-level management entrance exam such as Karnataka PGCET, CMAT, MAT, CAT, or KMAT. The specific entrance exam and cutoff scores required may vary annually. Prospective students should refer to the official SJBIT website or contact the admissions office for the most current and detailed eligibility requirements, including any additional criteria or changes in admission procedures.

Q:   Can I get direct admission at SJB Institute of Technology?
A:

Well in general terms, yes. It directly is possible, though the seat depends up on seat availability in policies of the college management, and sometimes specific eligibility criterion which institute requires.

1. Management Quota: Since it is a private institute, SJBIT also has a few seats under management quota. Therefore, there was an opportunity for the students to take direct admission through management on fulfilling the eligibility criteria of the institute and payment of requisite fees, which in most cases are more than the general admission fees.

2. Eligibility Criterion: The students coming through direct admission would otherwise be eligible for minimum eligibility criteria of the course offered, which for example in case of MBA would be Bachelor degree with minimum percentage.

3. Application process: Contact the admissions office of SJBIT or a counselor who will help you get direct admission. They can clear seats if available and management quota fees with some additional documents that might be needed for admission.

4. Entrance Exam Score: Standard scores in direct admission entrance exams like KMAT, MAT, CAT, or PGCET may also be required. Requirements under management quota are relatively eased.
Direct Admission through Management Quota: SJBIT is a very interesting option if you wish to join it and probably were not able to attend through the main entrance and counselling process.

Q:   How many students can do B.E. Civil Engineering at SJB Institute of Technology?
A:

Overall, it is a good college with a green campus and friendly faculty members.
Placements: I am from the 2021-25 CSE batch. Around 85% of students got placed. The highest package is 15 LPA, and the lowest package is 3.5 LPA. The average package is 5.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course include Infosys, TCS, Accenture, and EY. About 65% of students got internships in companies like IBM, Wipro, and startups. Roles offered are SDE, QA, analyst, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college has great infrastructure with smart classrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, well-equipped labs, and a resourceful library. Hostels are clean and have good facilities. Mess food is average, but the canteen serves tasty snacks. Medical aid is available on campus. Sports facilities include cricket, football, basketball, and indoor games too.
Faculty: Our college has a very positive and supportive environment. All the faculty members are really friendly. If we have a doubt or we just need some guidance, they are always ready to help us. They constantly motivate us to do better in life. The college also has a dedicated training and placement center where we get regular workshops, mock interviews, aptitude practice, and soft skills sessions. It really helps us feel confident during placements. Overall, SJBIT is not just about academics, and it is a place that truly focuses on our overall growth. Studying here, honesty feels like being part of a family.

Our college is good surrounded by a full green environment, which is good for studying.
Placements: I am a part of the information science and engineering programme, batch of 2027. The course focuses on almost all placements. They have given a weekly one-class for placement purposes in HRD classrooms from the 1st year, they train us for placements and more about academics, and they also conduct mock interviews from the 5th semester itself. Placements are good, we can crack it.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for our course is excellent. Classrooms are spacious and equipped with smart TVs and high-speed Wi-Fi. Labs are well-maintained with modern equipment, and the library offers a wide range of books and digital resources. The department also provides access to coding labs and seminar halls for presentations and workshops. The hostel facilities are among the best. Rooms are clean and well-ventilated.
Faculty: Faculty are very good, they support in all ways, and this autonomous college, so we get exams from our college, but they only prepare the questions. They are teaching in an exemplary way, and they give you practical knowledge. The syllabus is good, it helps us to get placements.

Not the best but a good college.
Placements: There were sixty students in our class, and among them, none got placed because we didn’t receive any placement opportunities due to corona. But yes, the previous batches and current batch students are getting placed, and that too in fewer numbers.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for our course or department were quickly accessible and available all the time. The canteen food was well maintained and hygienic. I have no idea about games or sports because we were not taken out to play, and I have no idea about the hostel as I wasn’t a hostel student.
Faculty: Teaching used to be dependent on the teachers, and the quality was good itself. Extracurricular activities often used to take place, but there were no industrial visits for our batch. Exams were quite easy and could be passed if studied one day before the exam.
Other: I chose MBA to have a Master's Degree. Events, fests, and scholarships are always taken care of. An average college.

It has a balanced tech journey with good opportunities.
Placements: I am from the 2025 batch of B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering at SJBIT. Overall, my experience at the college is quite good, with decent academic support and placement opportunities. Around 80% of students from our course got placed. The highest package offered is 12 LPA, and the average package offered is 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our department has good Wi-Fi, modern labs, smart classrooms, and a well-stocked library. Hostels are decent with clean rooms. Mess food is good. Medical facilities are available too. Sports facilities are good and active. It also includes a gym at an affordable price.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is good, with practical exposure and smart boards. The course curriculum is mostly relevant and helps in building industry-ready skills. Semester exams are moderately difficult, with a 95% pass rate.
Other: I chose this course due to my interest in tech and coding. The best part is the practical learning and placement support. The syllabus could be updated more often. The campus has good tests, a friendly crowd, average connectivity, and decent extracurricular activities.

Our college provides average placements and quite a good ROI.
Placements: The placement percentage is close to 60 - 70 %. The highest package this year was 12 LPA and the lowest was 3.25 LPA with the average package ranging between 4.0 - 5.5 LPA. Few product-based companies and more services visit here. Internship opportunities are rare and ordinary and that too starts after the 6th sem. The roles offered are also not very promising and they hire for smaller roles.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is kind of average but the labs are really good and have high-level systems along with quite a large space for many students. The Wi-Fi speed in the labs is quite good. The library is quite spacious with all possible books and journals available. Books can be borrowed for 14 days and the late fine is Rs. 1 per day. The hostel infrastructure is above average. Rooms are quite spacious with 2 and 3-sharing options. They provide a bed, chair, table, and a spacious wardrobe. The mess meal is below average with both the north and south Indian menu.
Faculty: Some of the professors are quite well-trained but some are old fashioned and not that knowledgeable. The curriculum followed is quite old-fashioned and very little exposure to newer technology trends. Semester exams are quite easy. The pass percentage is around 95% or above. Studying a week before exams is enough and the paper is not that difficult. Professors' notes are enough to score above 8 pointer.
Other: The student intake is only 180 per branch and the on-campus competition is much less which is great. The newer technology courses have been introduce recently but for some of the courses, professors are not that skilled. There are two fests a year but one has not been conducted for 2 years. Events are quite average. They don't call celebrities for fests and night fests are not conducted.

It has average placements, average ROI, and average infrastructure.
Placements: Placements percentage is close to average and about 70% of students placed each year. The highest package is 23 LPA which is offered in 2021 and that too off-campus. The average package is 4 LPA. Some companies have a bond. Not many good companies visit here and most service-based companies visit the college for placements. Even some companies pose irrelevant restrictions to hiring students like 9 or above CGPA or 90% in 10th & PUC. There are not many internship opportunities from the college side, and most are off-campus. Companies for internships are small and service-based. It might even charge for that.
Infrastructure: The campus infrastructure is average. Classrooms are good and spacious. Labs have many systems to accommodate any number of students but some of them do not have the Wi-Fi facility. The library is very good and spacious with many books. We can also borrow books for 15 days. Timings are from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM Monday to Saturday. The hostel is close to excellent and better than DSCE, MSRIT, and RVCE hostels. They are very well-maintained with 2 and 3-sharing rooms. Its closing time is 9 PM with not many restrictions. The mess food is above average with both North and South Indian food.
Faculty: Professors are average but some are very well-trained. The teaching quality is average and is not very helpful. The course curriculum followed is kind of outdated, traditional, and not helpful. Semester exams are not difficult and we can easily score well. We have 3 internal assessments and then the end-semester exams. The pass percentage is close to 95% for the autonomous batch.
Other: The college is so academically oriented and attendance is everything here. Students should maintain 85% of attendance. There is not much exposure for the industry and no hackathons even once a year. One good thing is that student intake is less and it is 240 per branch, which makes less competition on campus. Only one basketball court is available. It has very large cricket and football grounds. Badminton courts and TT tables are available in the auditorium and not everyone can access them. There are not many fests, events, and sports events. Campus infrastructure is average and campus life is not good.
