I am absolutely dissatisfied after joining this college. Still, I am unemployed.
Placements: None of the companies has been visited our college for placements. Our college doesn't provide placement training, but it charges fees for that. There are no recruiting companies for our college. The salary packages offered to students depends on their academic marks. None of the students got selected for internships because there is no placement training. Our college didn't do anything regarding placements and internships.
Infrastructure: There are no proper facilities in our college. Our college lacks staff members, but the environment is good. However, there are classrooms, a library, purified water, canteen and ground. But the ground is full of grass and not maintained properly, and there is a gym. Buses are available to every place, and there is a temple in our college. Laboratories are maintained properly. Our college doesn't provide for sports players like football and cricket. I am a day scholar, so I don't know about our college hostel facilities.
Faculty: Not every teacher, but some teachers are helpful. They taught well and helped us to pass in the exams. Some staff members just attend class and dictate the topics, and they don't even know how to teach us properly. The course curriculum didn't help us to be ready for the industry. We didn't get knowledge about our course, and we used to face difficulties to speak in the interview.
Other: I didn't choose this course with my interest, and due to family reasons, I selected the engineering course. I wish that teachers should teach students in a practical manner. The campus surrounding is good, but the campus crowd is very poor. Festivals are celebrated, but events organised here are less in number.

Average infrastructure, not highly qualified but friendly faculty, poor placement assistance.
Placements: There is no placement assistance for the mechanical engineering department. The only companies that came for the placement drive were BPO companies that recruited students from all departments. No student got any job in the core field and no internship is provided by the college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average. When compared to engineering colleges in Kerala, Sri Subramanya College is just below average. It has average classroom and lab facilities. There are no AC classrooms as said in the brochure. The gymnasium is too below par. It just comprises of a small room for a namesake. The canteen is worse. Menu and facilities are comparable to low-class canteens seen in some matriculation schools. It looks great from the outside because of the plantation and the entrance. But as soon as you step in, the poverty of the college management can be seen.
Faculty: No specialised faculty members were there. Lecturers were mostly graduates and the HODs were the ones with post graduation degrees. There is no eminent and qualified principal or Dean. Students who passed out BE got recruited there itself as assistant lecturers. There was no assistance on building a career and there weren't any experienced faculty members who could guide students on future prospects. Industrial visits were forbidden mostly. A maximum of 1 industrial visit was arranged. The course curriculum is as followed by Anna University. There is no problem with that.
Other: The major problem is the ragging. Kerala students have to suffer ragging from Kerala seniors themselves. There are a lot of rules set by seniors like: - Not to wear jeans and half-sleeved shirts. - Insert the shirt and don't fold the sleeves. - You should wear only black shoes. You should not wear bags on shoulders. Hold the bag in hand. - You should not laugh and roam around on the campus. - You should not enter the canteen. - You should not go to the nearby shops. - You should wear only dhotis in hostels. Also, full-sleeved shirt unfolded is a must in the hostel as well. - You should not make any noise in the hostel. - You should keep the head down always. If the above-mentioned rules aren't obeyed, juniors are beaten up. After the first year, a part is given to seniors and the ragging is stopped. But again, the coming first years are the new prey. Seniors also take cash from juniors.
