Commonly asked questions
On Admissions
Q:   Is a CUET score of 280 good for admission to B.A. (Hons) Pol Science at Sri Venkateswara College?
A:

Sri Venkateswara College, which is located on the south campus of Delhi University, has quite a good reputation among students, and hence, closing ranks or scores of CUET for admission are quite high. For different courses, depending on the priority of the students, the score varies from, say, 508 to 754. With each passing year, this score is only likely to increase rather than decrease, and hence, a student with just about 280 as a score in CUET has almost no chances of getting admission in this prestigious college of the Delhi University.

Q:   Can I get direct admission at Sri Venkateswara College if my score in CUET is 249?
A:

No, you cannot get direct admission at Sri Venkateswara College if your score in CUET is 249. Sri Venkateswara College admission to all the courses, i.e., undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, is entrance-based. Sri Venkateswara College accepts CUET scores for admission to its undergraduate courses, including B.Sc. The overall cutoff for CUET ranges from 528 to 784 marks. Therefore, it is unlikely that you will get admission to Sri Venkateswara College with a score of 249 in CUET.

Q:   What entrance exams are accepted by Sri Venkateswara College for admission to B.A.?
A:

Hi.Sri Venkateswara College admission for UG programmes is subject to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) exam conducted by NTA.

Seats for UG courses will be allocated through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal.

Candidates seeking admission to Sri Venkateswara College must register for CUET examination first and then on Delhi University’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).

Thanks

Q:   Does Sri Venkateswara College accept CUET for BSc?
A:

Sri Venkateswara College admissions 2025 for all UG and PG programs is based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores conducted by NTA. Applicants seeking admission to UG courses need to appear for CUET UG while candidates are required to appear for CUET PG for PG admissions. Hence, CUET is accepted for B.Sc

The placements in our college are very less for our course and a few companies approach our college to recruit students, but there is rare chance to get selected.

Absolutely a good college in the South Campus.
Placements: Almost 60 percent of students got placed from our batch. The average package is 2 LPA-3 LPA. 60 of the total students got involved in the internships. The top roles offered are for a lab assistant, research, analysis, and microbiology teaching. Some of the students from my course are also in the IIT.
Infrastructure: The hostel is pretty decent, but only available for those who are from another state or country. No such restrictions and the food is nice. Also, it's very close to college so no issues with computing. College infrastructure is good. There are 2 buildings old and new. The new one is far better than the old one.
Faculty: Teachers are extremely brilliant if you are attentive in your class. They are very polite, supportive, and engaging. There is no tolerance for the bad behavior of students. Also they try to help in every aspect, like if someone needs a reference or anything, including a scholarship, they can help in that too.
Other: Extracurricular activities are good, like different groups and clubs in the college. They keep arranging for different programs, fests, and all. Overall environment is very good.

Overall college is very good.
Placements: My course placements are not provided. In my course, you can be a teacher after doing B.A. and M.A. You can choose Sanskrit for language purposes. In my course, there were no internships provided. In Sanskrit, you can also study the moral values in your life.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is really very good at my college and also in my hostel. The food quality is good, and the campus is neat and clean. In our college, there is a medical facility available for the students. For sports, there is a main ground with a football net.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and also guide us for our future. The semester exam is not very hard. The passing category is about 33 percent in the semester exam. The teachers are highly qualified from various institutes like JNU, BHI, etc. Their teaching quality is very good.
Other: I chose this course because I want to learn the Sanskrit language. The things I want to better are our college Wi-Fi. The events and annual fest are amazing.

SVC organises the largest fest named Nexus.
Placements: Regularly, internship opportunities are provided in SVC, which makes SVC one of the best in South Campus Colleges. Overall placements of Economics (Hons) are around 70 percent. The highest package offered in our course is 13 LPA. Companies like Bain & Company, KPMG, etc., regularly visit our college to recruit students.
Infrastructure: Arts block and science blocks are available, and one more block has been added by our college. Our college definitely is the most modern, and it's not in DU, at least in South Campus for sure. We are one of those rare colleges that also has both boys' and girls' hostels on the campus. There is a Lord Venkateswara Temple at the college entrance, which is the best part of our infrastructure.
Faculty: Faculty members who teach us economics are PhD holders or master's qualified from JNU and Delhi School of Economics. So this makes our course and faculty members among the best. Luckily, the course curriculum is tough, but exams are simple in DU. The pass percentage is always close to 100 percent.
Other: Our campus is unarguably one of the best in Delhi. Our fest named Nexus, is indeed the largest DU fest.

Honestly, the college is worth it if you want a good crowd and want to enjoy events and fests.
Placements: I got to know from my seniors that in our department placements are very low like 15 percent. The highest package is 7 LPA in a pharmaceutical company. Internships are subjective as they depend on the interviews of the student according to that they are selected.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are decent as well as lab which is a bit old school. Wi-Fi is trash and talking about hostel the food is decent. The labs need to be well-maintained because they lack equipment and the assistants often go on strike which is a headache.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful but I don't think the curriculum helps in improving the real-life skills of students. So students should not blindly trust teachers and make their own efforts too in their studies to pass the exams. The semester exams are based on PYQs.
Other: I have a keen interest in Chemistry, which is why I chose it. Our college has a good crowd. Events and fests are top-notch, and there are no complaints about them.

B.A. (Hons.) in Sociology - Batch of 2028

Really good teachers with bad placements.
Placements: For BA (Hons) Sociology, many students are not placed, and many students are not trained for placements either. We do have a placement cell, but it’s not as effective as it is in, let’s say, SRCC. Many students who have done B. Com as well don’t get great placements.
Infrastructure: The college has average infrastructure, and the Wi-Fi is terrible as well. The hostel Wi-Fi is great, but then again, with the quality of food declining, it feels like we are getting good things and then bad ones. The library is great and equipped with a good number of books. The medical facilities are top tier as well.
Faculty: The faculty of BA (Hons) Sociology is absolutely the greatest across the university. It is possibly the best college for sociology in India. The faculty is not just experienced but also welcoming of critical feedback. They give you opportunities for research, seminars, etc.
Other: I chose this course since it resonated the most with me. If I could change one thing about my college, it would be the desks and benches, as they are a little uncomfortable. The crowd is great, and the connectivity to Delhi is absolutely amazing. There are multiple ECA opportunities as well.

Really good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: In our college, for B.Sc. (H) Mathematics, around 20–30 percent of students are placed. I also got an internship through the college placement cell in a company named Pristine Forest. Most placement opportunities are for B. Com and B. Com (H) students, so it is decent.
Infrastructure: We have all the basic infrastructure, like Wi-Fi, labs, new computers, and decent classrooms. We also have a library and a reading hall. The best part of our college is the canteen, which has decent food at low prices. The playground is a highlight of our college, where you can play any sport you want.
Faculty: From an academic point of view, our college is excellent for B.Sc. (H) Mathematics students because all teachers have Ph.Ds in different mathematics domains. Since B.Sc. is mainly research-focused, it does not make students industry-ready. Exams are a bit different for some subjects, like Calculus.
Other: The college fest, NEXUS, is amazing.
