SID conducts Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) for shortlisting aspirants for BDes course. SEED is an online proctored test conducted for a duration of 60 minutes comprising 60 questions. The questions could be MCQ, match the columns, fill in the blanks, image-based and comprehension based. The paper will contain a mix of questions related to visual sensitivity and judgement, observational, perceptual and reasoning abilities, problem solving, basic knowledge of logic of Science and Mathematics, art, craft and culture, design and environment. Candidates who qualify SEED will be called for further rounds of selection. The final selection is based on Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and the chosen specialisation.
Candidates must have completed Class 12 or equivalent, or Class 10 plus a three-year diploma, with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for SC/ST) in order to be admitted to the Symbiosis Institute of Design's B.Des program. To be eligible for admission, candidates must also take the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED). The computer-based SEED exam is administered online. The exam measures the candidate's foundational understanding of design, art, craft and culture, environment, and logic in Science and mathematics. Candidates must have a valid SEED score in order to apply for admission to SID. The SEED score is only valid for one year. Candidates may apply to any BDes specialisation while they are taking the final year exam.

SEED Entrance Exam is of 60 minutes and will have 60 questions. The test will be conducted online in computer based mode. The test will be of one hour long and will be conducted between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the test day.
