B.Des. in Fashion Design - Batch of 2023

Chandigarh University is one of the fastest-growing private universities.
Placements: Chandigarh University offered a well-rounded, hands-on fashion design program with modern infrastructure and industry-connected teaching. While broader placement records were impressive across all disciplines, in fashion design, students generally secure placements in the 2.6 LPA - 3.6 LPA range with recognized brands. It was a solid starting point for a creative career.
Infrastructure: Chandigarh University (CU) offered comfortable and modern hostel accommodation that caters to both academic and personal needs. There were separate hostels for boys and girls, which had options ranging from shared multi-seater to single AC rooms. All were equipped with essential furnishings and attached or common washrooms. Hostels were supported by year-round power, high-speed Wi-Fi, 24X7 purified drinking water, and reliable security. It had CCTV surveillance and electronic ID access, ensuring a safe and connected living space.
Other: I chose the B.design in fashion at Chandigarh University because of its strong balance of creativity, practical exposure, and industry relevance. The program provided advanced facilities such as garment construction labs, CAD studios, textile and dyeing labs, and design studios equipped with modern software and tools, which made the learning process truly hands-on. The curriculum was flexible and choice-based, starting with design fundamentals and later expanding into electives like fashion merchandising, industrial pattern making, or advanced dyeing, which allowed students to shape their specialization.

I truly loved the college vibe including studies and events both.
Placements: I am happy that I choose this college because overall I find it pretty good. About placements: about 85% of students get placed every year, not only in my interior designing course but in all fields. In our course, the students who are good in their studies surely get a chance to attend internships.
Infrastructure: Chandigarh University is known for its top-class infrastructure and facilities provided all around the campus. All the classes are fully air-conditioned and well-maintained. Hostels are also properly maintained with proper hygiene, separate canteens, etc.
Faculty: The faculty is very kind to help anytime, not only in college studies but also in other things. All the teachers are well-educated and well-trained. The semester exams are not too hard to crack but not too easy. The courses are really great, and they try to teach really useful concepts theoretically and practically too.
Other: I choose this course because its value will increase in the future according to my research. In the first year, the university not only teaches just related things about interior designing but also many other things which I find a bit boring to do, as I am just curious about knowing things related to interior designing.

Chandigarh University Design Department Reality. Think Again...
Placements: There are around 170-180 students in our batch. When it comes to placements, we could say... placements? What’s that? The placement rate is very low. Out of 180 students, a maximum of 10 students were placed, with the highest package being only 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, with drafting tables provided specifically for our department. The Wi-Fi is okay, and the library is small but accessible online through our college ID. In the hostel, the food is just enough to satisfy hunger. Occasionally, they cook something delicious, but most of the time, the food is just average. Initially, the food was quite good during orientation and induction, but afterward, it became average and sometimes very poor. Many hostel students end up buying food from outside.
Faculty: The faculty is very nice and knowledgeable in their subjects. However, sometimes the department management assigns a different subject to a faculty member who doesn’t specialize in that area. The faculty even say, "This is not my area of expertise; the department assigned me this subject. I can only teach you what I’ve learned during winter or summer breaks." So, the management department is poorly organized.
Other: The management of Chandigarh University is as frustrating as dealing with a government bank: "Come after lunch, the server is down, go to counter 2, no wait, counter 3." The university issues an ID to every student, which is essential for attendance and most tasks. One day, my ID stopped working. Without it, teachers couldn’t mark my attendance, and many university processes require it. I went from the HOD to the Registrar’s office, only to be redirected repeatedly—first to level 2, then the basement, from one counter to another. My problem wasn’t fixed until the next day when I went back to the HOD, who sent me to another teacher who finally resolved it.

Chandigarh University has strong ties with top global brands.
Placements: Chandigarh University has strong ties with top global brands and renowned companies and gives you opportunity to start your career with names like Tommy Hilfiger, H&M, Da Milano, Monte Carlo, Madame, and Pearl Global Industries Ltd. I feel grateful to get placed with Da Milano even when the Indian fashion industry was going through the recession period.
Infrastructure: The B. Design {Fashion} course itself is a mix of theory and practical experiences. The faculty, who are experts in their fields makes sure you get the best learning experiences. The faculty, who are experts in their fields assure you get the best learning experience through workshops and seminars led by industry professionals.
Faculty: The faculty plays a pivotal role in facilitating these opportunities. With their industry experience, they guide us in selecting the right internships and maximizing these experiences. It is not just about earning credit; it is about acquiring real-world skills that set us apart in the competitive fashion industry.

B.Des industrial design course here is satisfactory.
Placements: The placements are good, and the top roles offered in the course are automobile designer, UI/UX designer, -product designer etc. Cognizant, Symbiosis, etc., are the recruiting companies. There are numerous internships available on-campus or off-campus, if one is interested.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of Chandigarh University is amazing, and the food quality is good too. Wi-Fi, labs, libraries, and workshops are available to work in and with. Medical facilities are available 24*7, and the sports complex is also available for multiple sports and games.
Faculty: The course curriculum is highly elaborated and provides a vast experience of the industry. The faculty are extremely helpful, qualified and ready to help us anytime. The semester examinations are held in jury mode and are very helpful in coping with hardships in the industry.
Other: This course offers numerous opportunities in the designing field than the other courses. Chandigarh University organises many events, fests etc. Frequently, they call renowned personalities to the campus. The university offers scholarships based on the entrance exam, 12th merit etc.

I am an industrial design student at Chandigarh University. I have an average experience here.
Placements: This course just started in CU. From this course, there is only 1 pass out from the 2021 batch. People are not much familiar with this course, so students are very less in every batch. Few companies visit the college for placements. In this course, you have to find the internship by yourself. It does not help you in finding your internships.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good as we have classrooms with a good amount of switchboards to charge our laptops as we do most of the work on our laptops. It also has a Cintiq lab. Every classroom has connected with projectors for presentations. It also has connected speakers for a good mood and workable environment. It has workshops for our practical projects. The campus and hostel facilities are good. In the hostel, they provide a gym, canteens, and parlors. It also provides medical facilities. For girls, the hostel is very strict so they can keep their students very safe. The mess food is average, and sometimes they make some mess in food. Most of the time, the quality of the food served is good.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful to their students as they treat their children as their friends. They are well qualified as they all have done masters in this field. The problem is that we have very few faculty members in our department, which is 5-6 teachers. We don't have any exams, but instead of this, we have our practical Jury in which we have to showcase all our subject projects. The Jury will question you from your projects. They will mark you according to your daily basis that how you do your work regularly in your class and how much attention you were in class and how you have given your Jury, and what creative project you have done for your Jury.
