CEED 2026 Answer Writing & Sketching Tips for Part B; Check Pattern, PYQs and Marking Scheme
CEED Entrance exam is around the corner. The IIT CEED Exam is divided into two parts Part A and Part B. In this article, we have given some tips to prepare for CEED Part B. Read on for detailed information.
CEED Entrance Exam will be conducted on January 18, 2026 by IIT Bombay for M.Des programme. It will be conducted from 9 AM to 12 PM at the CEED Test Centres. The reporting time for the CEED Entrance Test is 7 AM. All candidates must carry their CEED Hall ticket and a photo ID to write the exam.
CEED Question Paper will be divided into two Parts, Part A and Part B. Part A will have 44 questions and will have negative marking and Part B will have 5 questions and there will be no negative marking. Part A will be of 150 marks and Part B will of 100 marks.

CEED 2026 Answer Writing & Sketching Tips for Part B
Some of the tips for CEED Part B are given below.
1. Muscle memory development: Practice so much that you are able to draw anything given. Take reference and draw with the help of it. The next day, draw the same thing with your muscle memory. Compare the two. This will show you the changes and you will develop muscle memory. Keep practising shapes, animals, human figures, etc.
2. Focus on the Human Figure, one male figure, one female, one kid. Practice different poses, sitting, standing, talking, playing, etc.
3. Sketch should be clear: Should have a clear composition, practice shadow, focus on details, expression.
4. Time management: Do not give more than 20 minutes in exam. Attempt all the questions given in Part B.
5. Explore Pinterest: Take reference and draw them and then create your own library of ideas.
6. Rough Sketch: Examination does not always want a direct solution. They want to see approach. Draw rough sketches in the rough sheets to show ideation. Give the heading Ideation to show that you have done brainstorming.
7. Problem-solving questions: Show the problems faced by humans in the question given by you. Show problems, expressions, and use boxes to frame visuals. Keep it clean.

Question 1. A shop owner is standing in the shop’s billing counter, taking money from a customer. The shop has shelves, different kinds of food products, groceries and a weighing scale.
Draw a freehand perspective drawing of this setup, showing all the elements listed above.
Note:
- Use only pencils.
- Do not use any drawing instrument such as ruler, compass, set-square etc.
- Do not use any kind of colour.
You will be evaluated for drawing, perspective, light, shade and shadow, scale and proportion as well as the
overall composition.
Question 2. You are given a hand held device which can understand animal behaviour and translate their needs and thoughts into images which can be understood by human beings. This data can be stored in various digital media. Create five sketches with brief notes to illustrate creative uses of this device. You will be evaluated for imagination, creativity, diversity of ideas, originality of ideas and clarity of visual presentation.
Question 3. Construct two different stories using the following three terms: Orphan, Mango, Cycle shop. Each story should not be longer than three sentences.
Evaluation Criteria: Originality and creativity of plots, ability to tell the story in only three sentences.
Question 4. Imagine you are provided with a tyre, a plastic bottle, a cricket bat and a bucket. Illustrate five DIFFERENT creative ideas to use these objects in a combination at your home or a public place. You are required to use all the objects in each idea. You may use the objects more than once, change their scales, and proportions.
Evaluation criteria: Originality and diversity of your ideas and clarity of your sketches.
Question 5. Draw a perspective view of a kitchen interior with a stove, kitchen utensils (such as pressure cooker, cooking pans, sauce pans etc.), dining utensils (such as ceramic plates, cups, glasses etc.), a wash basin, storage racks with stored cooking ingredients (such as spices in small plastic bottles), fresh cut
vegetables kept beside the stove and at least two kitchen gadgets. Make a freehand perspective drawing of this setup, showing all the elements listed above, as seen
from the point of view of a 5 ½ feet tall person.
Evaluation criteria:
a) Quality of composition.
b) Observation and drawing skills.
c) Sense of perspective.
d) Scale and relative proportions.
e) Use of light, shade and surface finish.
