Candidates preparing for the exam must know the important topics to study CEED 2025 exam. IIT Bombay will conduct the exam on January 19. The question paper will have two parts - Part A and Part B. Here we bring you important topics for Part A and Part B that candidates must prepare for the exam.

If you are appearing in the CEED 2025 exam, it is important that you know what the the important topics for the exam. IIT Bombay has released the exam pattern for CEED 2025. Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) is a three-hour exam that has two parts, A and B.

  • Part A contains objective-type questions (multiple-choice questions, multiple select questions, and numerical answer questions) which is a computer-based test for 1 hour
  • Part B is a paper-based test for 2 hours, which could include drawing, creative thinking, design problem solving, communication skills, etc

As part of the CEED syllabus, Part A of the exam covers the following topics:

Q:   What is the validity of the CEED 2025 scorecard?
A:

The scorecard of CEED 2025 will be released on March 10, 2025; the last date to download the scorecard is June 11, 2025.

The validity of the scorecard will be one year from the date of its issue. Using the scorecard, the candidate can apply for admission to both CEED 2025 participating and result-sharing institutes.

The scorecard will carry details like the Qualifying status and Part A marks. Open & category-wise Merit rank, and Part B & Total marks will be issued only if the candidate has qualified Part A.

Q:   Can I download the CEED 2025 scorecard after one year?
A:

The link to download the CEED 2025 scorecard will be active only for a limited period of time.

The scorecard will be available for download from March 10 - June 11, 2025. IIT Bombay will remove the scorecard download link once the deadline expires.

The scorecard download schedule has been released by IIT Bombay. The scorecard will be valid for a period of one year from the date of its release.

The results of CEED 2025 exam will be declared on March 5, 2025.

Q:   Has IIT Bombay released the list of exam centres for CEED 2025?
A:

The list of CEED 2025 exam centres will be released by IIT Bombay. The list will be given in the CEED 2025 information brochure.

The candidate can download the brochure at ceed.iitb.ac.in.

The CEED 2025 exam will be conducted across 27 cities - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Ernakulam, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mumbai, Mysuru, Nagpur, Noida, Panaji, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, and Visakhapatnam.

Important Topics for CEED Part A Exam 2025

Given below is a list of important topics that aspirants should study to prepare for CEED Part A:

    4. Architectural awareness - history, monuments, elements, terminology

    10. Popular logos - automobiles, companies, or organisations
    11. Animation terms like Walk cycles & comic structures and terms

Important Topics for CEED Part B Exam 2025

Given below is a list of important topics that aspirants should study to prepare for CEED Part B:

  3. Still life drawings
  4. Character study, comic strips, etc.
  5. Product and automobile sketches
  6. 2D graphic - abstract, posters, logos, signages, etc.
  7. Storyboards and the character design

  10. Design problem solving

However, keep in mind, CEED is an open-ended exam, therefore topics mentioned in part A and B need not be limited to the above.

CEED Admission Process

Please note getting admission into an MDes programme at IISc or the IITs is a two-step process:

Step 1: You must answer the CEED exam.

Step 2: You must answer the individual entrance exams held by IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIITDM Jabalpur, and IIT Kanpur, and to PhD programmes in Design at IISc Bangalore.

Q:   When will the CEED 2025 exam be conducted?
A:

IIT Bombay will conduct the CEED 2025 exam tentatively in January 2025 (9 am - 12 noon).

The exam will include two sections - Part A and Part B. Part A of the exam was administered in a computer-based mode, whereas Part B will be held offline. It is mandatory for candidates to qualify for Part A. If the candidate fails to qualify for Part A, his or her Part B answers booklet will not be evaluated. The final score of CEED 2024 will be calculated by giving weightage to both Part A and Part B.

The cut-off marks for Part A will be released a few days after the exam. 

Q:   When should I start my preparation for CEED 2025?
A:

The CEED 2025 exam will be conducted on January 19, 2025. 

So, the candidate has a three months or so to prepare for the exam. Given the CEED 2025 syllabus is of moderate to difficult, you would ideally need 6 months or so to prepare for the exam. 

That being said, if your fundamentals are strong, you can cover the syllabus in less time. Before starting you preparation, go through the syllabus and pattern, and draft a plan. Once the plan is ready, get going with full guns blazing.

Note that to fully prepare for the exam, you need to solve sample papers and take mock tests.

Q:   When will the CEED 2025 exam be conducted?

IIT Bombay will conduct the CEED 2025 exam on January 19, 2025 (9 am - 12 noon).

Important Note: 

  • IISc and each of the IITs will have their own entrance exams for admissions into their respective MDes programmes. Each of these colleges has their own application forms, deadlines, and exam dates. It is important that you are aware of these application deadlines, which may close even before the CEED results are out. This has happened in the past with one of the colleges.  
  • You need to qualify for CEED in order to appear for these secondary round of entrance exam conducted by IISc and IITs.
  • Applying for CEED does not by default mean you have applied for the secondary round of tests by these individual colleges.
