List of NIDs in India 2026: Courses, Fee, Eligibility, Seat Matrix & Admission Process
The list of NIDs includes institutes that will accept NID DAT 2026 scores for admission to their B.Des and M.Des courses. Currently, the B.Des program is offered at 5 NIDs and has an intake of 425 seats, while the M.Des program is available at 3 NIDs and has 347 seats earmarked for Indian nationals. NID DAT 2026 (Prelims) for UG and PG Programmes are expected to be conducted in the first week of January 2026.
The NIDs offer B.Des, M.Des, and Ph.D courses. Admission to these courses will be based on the NID DAT entrance exam, which consists of the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. NID DAT Prelims is conducted offline. NID Mains consists of Studio Test and Personal Interview. On the day of the exam, candidates need to report to the NID DAT 2026 exam center with all valid documents, including the NID DAT 2026 Admit card. Also, candidates must be sure that they follow the NID DAT 2026 exam-day guidelines.

The candidate has to select their admission category at the time of filling out the NIFT 2026 application form. The candidate must make sure that they have the requisite valid and verificable certificate supporting their category.
Note that the category selected by a candidate at the time of submitting the application form will be considered as final.
If a candidate selects a reserved category i.e. SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS/PWD but fails to submitted a valid Category Certificate, he or she will be considered for open category seats provided any benefit of relaxed age or income or cut offs has not been availed by the candidate at any stage of the Admission Process. If any benefit has been availed, the candidate’s application will be rejected.
Also, if a reserve category candidate is considered for open category, then he/she will have to pay the difference in amount of application fee as applicable for open category.

For admission to the BDes course, students need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. Candidates must sit and appear for DAT entrance exam to get admission for BDes course at National Institute of Design, Bhopal . Apart from this, the total tuition fee for the BDes course ranges between INR 1.1 lakh-INR 10.9 lakh.
Yes, the National Institute of Fashion Technology will allow candidates with late fees. The late fee application window will open once the deadline to fill out the NIFT 2025 application form with regular fee closes. The start and last date to fill out the NIFT 2025 application form with late fee will be notified by the institute before the regular application form closes or sometime thereabout. The late fee for NIFT 2025 will be INR 5,000. The late fee has to be paid in addition to the application fee, which is INR 3000 for open category candidates.

NID Admission Process 2026
Admission to all the courses offered at NID is based on an aspirant’s performance in the NID 2026 Entrance Exam. The NID admission process is conducted in two stages
- NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains.
- NID DAT Prelims comprises a written entrance exam. Shortlisted candidates are eligible to appear in the DAT Main.
DAT Mains will include a Studio Test. However, M.Des candidates must take a personal interview, to go with the Studio Test. The final NID DAT 2026 result is prepared by allotting 30% to the candidate’s score in NID DAT Prelims and 70% weightage to NID DAT Mains.
NID Cutoffs 2026
NID releases category-wise cutoffs for each course offered at its campuses. Aspirants must meet NID DAT 2026 cutoffs to be eligible for admission in BDes and MDes courses offered at this design college.

Seat Intake of UG and PG Design Courses Offered at NID 2026
NID 2026 exam scores will be used to fill B.Des and M.Des seats. The expected seat intake for B.Des and M.Des is 425 and 347, respectively. The NID has discontinued the Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) course.
