 Q: What is the admission process and eligibility criteria for BE and BTech programmes at SRM Easwari Engineering College?

A: For all aspiring candidates, it is important to fulfil the eligibility criteria. To be eligible for admission, the applicant must have passed Class 12 exams with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as three of four subjects as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The eligible candidates are then required to undergo Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling process basis which they are offered admission to engineering programmes at SRM Easwari Engineering College.

Q: What are the various undergraduate programmes offered at SRM Easwari Engineering College?

A: We offer various BE and BTech programmes at UG level. Some of the important specialisations that we offer include Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science under BTech. For BE, the specialisations are Electricals and Electronics, Mechanical, Electronics and Instrumentation, Computer Science, ECE, Civil, Automobile, Bio-Medical and Robotics and Automation.

Q: What is the basic difference between BTech and BE?

A: The prime difference between BTech and BE, in terms of study, is the fact that BTech emphasises more on practical application, while BE programme concentrates more on the theoretical knowledge that is applied to develop equipment and gadgets in the field of Science and Technology.

Q: A lot of institutes offer AI and Data Science as specialisations to Computer Science and Engineering but you offer them differently. What is the difference between two?

A: I agree with the fact that a lot of Engineering institutes now a days offer AI and Data Science as specialisations to CSE programme, but we offer them differently because we believe CSE is generic and wide concept whereas AI is an implementation. And considering the increasing demand of AI and Data Scientist in the corporate world, we decided to emphasis on the same more. So we have this as separate programmes

Q: SRM Easwari Engineering College is an autonomous institute. How does it acts as an advantage to students?

A: We are an autonomous institute which means we have the liberty to design the curriculum on our own. As a result of which we keep updating our curriculum on regular basis with the help of industry professionals. Also, we facilitate the advantage of choosing electives to the students, indulge themselves in live projects every semester and participate in group presentations.

Our complete curriculum is at par with industry standards so our students do not hesitate on the first day of their job.

Q: Can you share some insights on placements?

A: We are known for our track record of quality placements. Every year over 225 companies participate in our placement sessions. This includes Mahindra & Mahindra, TV's brakes India, Hyundai Polytech, Ford motors, Sakura Autoparts, Delphi TVS, Sanmar, Ashok Leyland, Mr Cooper, Zoho Corporation, Amazon, IBM, Juspay, Tata Consultancy Services, Accenture, Pickyourtrail, DeltaX and Coviam technologies.

We have witnessed the highest package of Rs 45 LPA and an average package of Rs 4 LPA offered to students.

Also, internships are a mandatory part of our curriculum. At present, our more than 700 students are interning with over 500 organisations out which many are stipend-based.

Q: What is the scope of BioMedical Engineering ahead?

A:  Students pursuing BioMedical Engineering have the flexibility to work with a wide range of medical, technical and administrative staff and, at times, patients. Responsibilities of the job includes:

• Designing, testing and implementing new medical procedures, such as computer-aided surgery and tissue engineering
• Designing, developing, testing and modifying products, equipment and devices
• Liaising with medical, engineering and scientific staff
• Training staff to use equipment safely
• Maintaining equipment
• Writing reports and documentation
