All you need to know about the Department of Aeronautical & Aerospace Engineering at KCG College of Technology

The Department of Aeronautical & Aerospace Engineering at KCG College of Technology offers the best Aeronautical & Aerospace Engineering education in Chennai, which is a four-year undergraduate programme titled BE Aeronautical Engineering and BE Aerospace Engineering. The department is permanently associated with Anna University, and the All-India Council for Technical Education has accredited it (AICTE). We think that the sky is our limit in the Department of Aeronautical & Aerospace Engineering. We teach the fundamentals of Aeronautical & Aerospace Engineering and emphasise students' ability to build futuristic flying devices. Our department boasts an experienced and skilled faculty as well as state-of-the-art, modern lab facilities that will inspire students to learn and pursue careers in the field of aeronautics. Under the direction of Dr Anand Jacob Verghese, Director & CEO, Hindustan Group of Institutions and Vice President, Aeronautical Society of India, the Department also organises national and international conferences, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, symposiums, and industrial visits in the field of aviation.

One of the few colleges to have its own Flight Simulator in India. One of the few colleges to have its own serviceable jet engine aircraft (Learjet) and serviceable propeller aircraft (Cessna). Department carries out the value-added programme in CFD, Drone piloting, aircraft maintenance, live flight training laboratory, simulator training etc in addition to student’s regular curriculum. Students are involved in the High-performance computing club and carry out projects in CFD, FEM and CAE.

Department has secured funded research projects worth Rs 35 lakh. Department has research facilities like two 15 HP compressors and 5000-litre storage to carry out experiments and research in High-speed Jets. It also has a Low-speed Wind tunnel and a Universal testing machine. Department has highly qualified faculty with more than half having or pursuing a Doctorate degree. Department has a strong association with the Aeronautical Society of India to conduct various programs in college. Department has signed MoU with MMCUAV, China for drone technology and Sukra Helitek, USA for CFD training.

Students regularly take part in international competitions. Students participated in the International Aerial Robotics competition 2018 held in Beijing China and won the Best Man-Machine Interface award. Students have got admitted for higher studies into top Indian Institutes like IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur and Foreign Universities like the University of Cincinnati (USA), Cranfield University (UK), Wichita State University (USA) and University of Windsor (Canada). Students have got placed in reputed companies such as DRDL, Safran Aerospace, Assystems, Air India, Infosys, Kaar Technology, Accenture, Capgemini, Indian Army, Mercedes Benz, Larsen & Tourbo Infotech etc.
