Ananth Krishna Kadambi, JEE Main 2021 February Topper (100 Percentile)
Ananth started focusing on JEE Main at a very early age while in class 8 however, he started preparing for the exam while in class 11.
“I use to study 10 hours on regular basis for JEE Main. I made a time table for my preparation and use to study one subject for 2 hours after which I use to take a small break and then study another subject for 2 hours. To keep myself focused and mentally fit, I use to do exercises and walk for around 45 minutes in the morning and evening”- says Ananth.
“Any student preparing for the JEE Main must have to set a goal in their mind, make a time table of study and get some good books. I would advice to first analyze the JEE Main syllabus and previous year papers. Secondly study class 11 and 12 NCERT books of Physics, Chemistry and Math. This would require time as one has to study all the topics and understand the basic concepts. Once the syllabus is complete, solve JEE Main mock tests and sample papers regulalry. In the last 1 month, revise the syllabus and solve mock tests” – adds Ananth
Preparation is incomplete unless it is tested
It is very important that students check and analyze their JEE Main preparation by solving mock tests and sample papers. JEE Main mock tests are available free of cost on NTA website nta.ac.in, NTA’s app National Test Abhyas and on several other online portals.
Solve chapter-wise mock tests regularly when a chapter is completed and full length mock tests after completing the entire syllabus.

Mridul Agarwal, JEE Main 2021 March Topper (100 Percentile with Perfect 360/360 Score)
“To crack JEE Main, prepare notes of what is taught in class, understand the basic concepts and solve numerical problems on it. Study NCERT books religiously and get basic understanding of all topics. Check JEE syllabus and make sure that nothing is left. Along with this, solve chapter-wise JEE Main sample papers and mock tests. In the last few months before the exam, revise all the topics and solve mock tests regularly” – says Mridul
“The best way to clear JEE Main is to start preparing while in class 11. However, its not late if a student begins preparation for JEE Main during class 12 or even after passing class 12. Since the JEE Main syllabus encompasses topics from class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Maths, its comparatively easy to prepare simultaneously for both JEE and boards” – adds Mridul

If a student has started preparing after class 12, he/she need to have clear understanding of all class 11 and 12 topics from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. This way one can even crack the exam in a very little time. However, this would require greater dedication and efforts. To begin, check previous year JEE Main question papers and understand the difficulty level of questions asked in exam, point out the topics which have been repeatedly asked and note down all of them. First study all the topics covered in JEE syllabus with special emphasis of important topics and then solve mock tests and sample papers. In the last few months, revise all the topics and continue solving full length mock tests.
JEE Main Preparation Books
Good books are a real companion in reaching the JEE milestone. The first choice of NCERT of class 11 and 12 for all three subjects, ie. Physics, Chemistry and Maths. This would help in easy understanding of basic concepts and covering the syllabus. Students who want to study with additional books can take Helliday-Walker or H.C. Verma for Physics and D.C. Pandey for Mathematics. For Chemistry, NCERT is good to go but can also refer Physical, Organics and Inorganic by O.P. Tandon.
JEE Main Preparation Time Table
It is must that a student make a time table for study. Devote equal time to all the three subjects and also give break between studying two subjects. Ideally, give 2-3 hours for Physics, Chemistry and Maths but not in a single stretch. Study two subjects in the morning, with one subjects and mock tests in the evening.
