My dream is to become a Programmer at Google: Shaik Azam
My dream is to become a Programmer at Google, so in class 10 only I decided to pursue Engineering. However, I didn’t know how to become a Developer or even anything about Engineering. I didn’t have any one to guide me too as no one in my family is an Engineer. I chose Engineering in a very unconventional way. Let me share that with you.
One day in Physics class, my teacher was teaching Electricity chapter and I was listening to him with concentration. When I raised a question on a particular topic, my teacher liked it so much that he told me in front of the whole class that, “boy you can become an IITian”. Later, I asked him what he meant by saying that; so he told me all about IITs and how to get admission there. After that conversation with my teacher, I decided to become and IITian. For that, I took PCM in class 11 and started taking IIT coaching.
How I cracked college admission
Unfortunately, I couldn’t crack JEE and my dream of becoming an IITian was broken. With a lot of pain in my heart I appeared for EAMCET, but even in EAMCET I didn’t score well.
As I wanted Computer Science and Engineering branch in BTech, I got CMR Technical Campus, Hyderabad. I thought everything is over and my life is a waste, but after I joined CMR, my life took off on another track.
What I learned in my college
When I entered CMR, I was a simple boy with no worldly knowledge. I didn’t know much beyond my school and Intermediate. I had stage fear. In ELCS (English Lab and Communication Skills) classes I couldn’t speak a word whenever I was called on stage.
Then one day, I decided to become a member of the literary club of my college. I prepared well for it. The selection was based on written test and HR interview. I qualified and I became a member.
From then on my life changed. I conducted many literary festivals in college and even participated in literary festivals of other institutes like BITS, Hyderabad. Participation in literary festivals boosted my confidence immensely. I was given the award for best student coordinator of Lexis Club (our literary club). In second year, I became a member of technical club called “Web Masters”. There I conducted technological events and participated in many such events like IOT, Android, Machine Learning etc.
I also got the opportunity to visit Infosys through campus connect programme and to interact with company employees. I learnt many things from them.
Coming to my classes, I like attending all the classes but bunk some of them if they are boring or the teacher is not teaching in an interesting manner. But I never bunk Programming related classes. I have made many friends in college. All my juniors and seniors are my friends. I interact with everyone have fun with them.
So that was my story till BTech third year. Now I am in final year. Let’s see where life takes me after that.
