Every student always dreams of getting admission in a reputed college. Getting into an engineering college is another task altogether. The student must be aware of the entire admission process to make their life easier.

I attained a good percentage in SSC as well as in the Intermediate but due to my low EAMCET rank I could not get admission in top 10 colleges in Hyderabad. I felt really disappointed and began searching for colleges where I could get a seat. I was interested in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). So I started applying for EAMCET Counselling. I visited many engineering colleges and made a list of colleges to attend counselling.

In this article, I am going to elaborate on the process of counselling in engineering colleges.

Process of EAMCET Counselling:

EAMCET Counselling in Hyderabad (Telangana State) has three Phases–

  • First Phase
  • Second Phase
  • Third/ Final Phase

The first Phase of Counselling involves three steps to get a seat in engineering college.

Step1: Document verification

Step2: Selection Process (choosing a particular branch and selecting from the list of colleges in Hyderabad)

Step3: Getting a seat as per your requirements

Note:

  • There is no maximum limit (in terms of a number of colleges) set for a student.
  • The seat is allotted only according to the branch selected by a student in a particular college after meeting the cut-off requirements of that college

In case, a student did not get a seat or is not satisfied with the college they have got in the first phase, then they could attend the second phase of counselling; in this phase, they are allowed to choose colleges up to the limit of 50.

In case, the same is repeated in the second phase, then the student could opt for the final phase of counselling; in this phase, they are allowed to choose colleges up to the limit of 20

After this process, a student could finally get a seat in a particular college.

Note: If the first phase is satisfactory, do not go for the second phase as the student would end up losing the seat allotted to them in the first phase.

Document verification:

I was given a date (according to my TS EAMCET) to submit all the required documents. This process is solely done by the students as parents are not permitted for documents verification. There was a lot of chaos all around as students were waiting for their turn to submit their documents. They were arranging the documents according to the prescribed list on the notice board.

At the time when my rank was announced, I walked to the counter and the officer started to ask for all the documents. Finally, I completed all the formalities (from giving a passport size photo till signing the given document).

Selection Process: Two days of time was given to submit the list. Students could make multiple changes within these two days. I prepared my list seeking help from my cousin who has already gone through the entire process. I finally selected 64 colleges with ECE branch. Later, the result of getting seat was announced.

Getting the seat:

I got a seat in the college and was satisfied as I was aware of the college, and visited its campus before the counselling itself. Hence, I did not opt for second phase of counselling.

I visited the campus of the allotted college once again to complete the admission process. The college has a large campus, this includes Cricket and Basketball Grounds, Badminton Courts, a room for indoor games, etc. My college even has a uniform mandatory for each student.

The Admission Process  of the college is as follows:

  1. Filling and signing the application form
  2. Admission is done based on counselling or management quota
  3. Fee Structure is explained of the selected branch
  4. For Scholarships, linking bank account is done
  5. Payment through as Demand Draft (DD) in Bank and submit in the college
  6. Finalisation of the branch
  7. Paying other fees like Transportation, Library and Uniform
  8. Finally, the seat is confirmed
