No, IIT Kharagpur does not offer direct admission to the students. Admission to all the courses is either entrance-based or is subject to rigorous selection rounds inclusive of Personal Interviews conducted by the institute. The institute accepts JEE Advanced scores for admission to BTech. Candidates are required to qualify JEE Main exam prior to appearing for JEE Advanced. NTPC Recruitment through GATE 2025: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfil all the following eligibility conditions before applying for vacancies in the NTPC:
Age Limit
Candidates must be under 27 years on the last date of application in NTPC. The relaxation in the age limit of candidates belonging to reserved categories is as follows:
- SC/ST - Age Limit - 32 years
- OBC - Age Limit - 30 YEARS (Non-Creamy Layer)
- PWD (General) - Age Limit - 37 years
- PWD (OBC) - Age Limit - 40 years
- PWD (SC/ST) - Age Limit - 42 years
- Candidates who lived in Jammu and Kashmir from 01-Jan-1981 to 31-Dec-1990 - Age Limit - 32 years.
- Relaxation for Ex-servicemen (XSM) will be according to the Government of India norms
Marks in Graduation
- A candidate must score at least 65% in a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology/AMIE.
- For SC, ST and PWD candidates, the minimum qualifying percentage is reduced in the qualifying degree to 55%.
- All candidates must be declared medically fit by the NTPC medical board, and no relaxation of health standards will be entertained.

NTPC Recruitment through GATE 2025: Application Process
- All candidates need to deposit the application fees at an SBI bank before applying online
- The candidates will be required to apply online by logging in to the official website: www.ntpccareers.net
- After logging in and entering all the details in the application form, candidates must upload their passport-size photograph in jpg/jpeg format not exceeding 500kb.
- A Unique Registration Number will be generated after successfully completing the registration process.
Application Fee
There is a very nominal application fee for the candidates applying for the NTPC Recruitment through GATE 2025.
Candidates with a bachelor's degree in engineering/technology/architecture or a master's degree in science/mathematics/statistics or computer Science are eligible to apply for GATE exam. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for admission to Master of Engineering (ME), Master of Technology (MTech), and direct PhD programs in engineering, architecture, and related branches of science.
The eligibility criteria for GATE include passing a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology or basic Science from a recognised university, and meeting the specific eligibility criteria for the discipline you wish to pursue. Candidates from India and other countries can apply for GATE, but they must meet the eligibility criteria. The exam is conducted online and is offered in 30 subjects. Passing marks in GATE exam is different for all 30 papers. The GATE qualifying mark for PSUs recruitment is also different. Candidates appearing in any GATE paper have to obtain the minimum mark in order to be declared qualified for the exam. Only qualified candidates are considered for admission to MTech/MSc/PhD programs and the MHRD scholarship. Candidates can check previous year GATE cutoff for various papers on the Shiksha page or from the GATE official website.
Candidates who obtain a seat at IIT Kharagpur via JoSAA must submit the seat acceptance fee on the internet by the due date. When they pay the fee, they should then load the documents asked for into the JoSAA portal for verification. Candidates are asked to report to IIT Kharagpur after the allotment to go through physical verification and admission procedures. Afterward, the institute will confirm the student's admission and mail the final confirmation letter.
No, a GATE score of 40 marks is relatively low for IITs and popular branches like CSE, ME, EE, and ME. The score is considered below average. However, if you score around 40 marks in GATE, you can opt for a branch or institution with less competition. Otherwise, you can attempt GATE next year with more practice and revision.

NTPC Recruitment through GATE 2025: Selection Process
The candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in GATE. Group discussions and personal interviews will be conducted with those who have successfully passed the hurdle GATE. A merit list will be prepared after the evaluation of the minimum qualifying marks in GD and Interview.
NTPC Recruitment through GATE 2025: Job Profile
Once the candidates are shortlisted, they will undergo one year of training before the final posting which will be based on performance during training and requirements. Candidates can be assigned any projects or subsidiary functions of NTPC across India.
Salary Description
The consolidated remuneration for this post is as follows:
The successful candidates are entitled to a salary of Rs. 24,900-3% -50,500 at the basic pay of Rs 24,900. After completing training, candidates will be designated as assistant managers on the pay scale of Rs 24,900-3% -50,500 at basic pay of Rs 25,650/.
As per the company rules, all selected candidates are entitled to numerous allowances, such as a dearness allowance, medical benefits, provident fund, gratuity, etc..
