
The GIC 2021 exam pattern was notified in the official GIC notification 2021 on March 11. The candidates can see the official notification for the detailed GIC 2021 exam pattern. The GIC 2021 Exam will be a two-phase exam where phase-I will be conducted online and the qualified candidates will be called for the Group Discussion and interview. The GIC 2021 scheme of examination is given below.
- Phase-I – Online Examination
- Phase-II- Group Discussion and Interview.

The GIC final merit list will be prepared based on the performance in all three phases of the exam. The GD and Interview will be conducted at selected centres and the selected candidates will be reimbursed with the to-and-fro III AC rail/bus fare to the exam centres. The GIC 2021 exam will be conducted at the designated exam centres notified in the GIC 2021 notification.

Part B and Part C of the GIC 2021 examination shall be common to all the candidates for all streams. The English descriptive paper will also be conducted online. The candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC and PwD will be provided pre-recruitment online training. The question paper will be conducted in two languages only – English and Hindi except for the English Language.
Negative Marking in GIC 2021 Online Test
The candidates should note that there is a negative marking in the GIC 2021 online test. There will be a penalty of one-fourth marks assigned to the question for each of the wrong answers. Every three wrong answers will eat up the marks scored for one right answer.
Minimum Qualifying Marks
The minimum qualifying marks would apply to the total score of the online examination. Minimum qualifying marks in the online test –60% for General & OBC and 50% for SC /ST. Minimum qualifying marks for the overall selection process (online test, GD and Interview)–60% for General & OBC and 50% for SC /ST.
Candidates will be shortlisted for Group Discussion and interview on the basis of overall marks scored in the objective and descriptive section taken together against full marks of 150.
