The National Sugar Institute (NSI) has an entrance test named the NSI Admission Test for admission to various post-graduate diploma and certificate courses related to Food Science and Technology. Important criteria for the students who want to apply for the NSI Admission Test 2026:
Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree or A.M.I.E. (from The Institutions of Engineers, India) in Mechanical/Production/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics/Chemical Engineering are eligible for admission into the Course.
Candidates who have completed a BSc degree in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Bio-Chemistry either as one of the subjects or BTech in Bio-Technology/Chemical Engg. or Bio-Chemical Engg. are eligible for admission into the Course.
Candidates who have completed a BSc degree in any specialisation of Agriculture or a BSc degree in Agriculture are eligible for admission into the Course.
- PGANSI-ST: Students who have passed Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Chemistry. Physics & Mathematics or an equivalent bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering are eligible for this course.

Out of that, 7 courses doesnot require any work experience for appearing in the NSI Admission Test 2026 examination. NSI Admission Test 2026 Process
The admission process through NSI Admission Test 2026 is as under:
Step 1: Application -
(a) Step 1: - Online Eligibility Check (Student Registration Number Generated ) 
      Step 2: - Fill out & submit online application form. Once application has been submitted and been received, candidate will be presented with computer filled application form in PDF NOW FORMAT. (One office copy & another student copy) 
(b) Application form office copy from NSI website will be submitted to Director, National Sugar Institute, Kanpur along with the following documents:-
(i) Self-attested Pass port size Photograph pasted on plain paper
(ii) Self Attested copy of certificate as date of birth proof.
(iii) Demand draft towards application fees (not required for foreign candidates).
(iv) Self Attested copies of mark sheet. [For each Year / Semester of B.Sc./B.E.,etc.]
(v) Original copy of Nomination Form generated from NSI website by online application at the time of submission of form. [ Compulsory for SC prior]

Candidates also need to pay the application fee of NSI Admission Test 2026 in the form of a Demand Draft along with the application form. The DD should be drawn in favour of “Director, National Sugar Institute” payable at Kanpur.
The application fee for unreserved categories is Rs 1500 and, for SC/ST category, it is Rs 1000. The mode of fee payment is the same for all.
Step 2: Obtain admit card - Admit cards will be assigned to candidates who have filled out and submitted the application form of NSI Admission Test 2026, to be able to sit for NSI Admission Test 2026. The admit card will state the exam date, timing, details of the test paper, details of the candidates appearing for the NSI Admission Test 2026 and, details about the test centre. Once released candidates will be able to download the admit card from the official website and will need to print it out on an A4 size sheet of paper to carry on the exam day.
