IIT JAM Exam Date 2027 (OUT): Get Schedule for Counselling, Cutoff, Result and Exam

A. IIT JAM is of three hours duration. The national-level Science entrance exam will be conducted in two sessions, which are as follows: 

• Session-I (9 AM to 12 noon) for the following JAM Test Papers- Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG) and Mathematics (MA)
• Session-II (2.30 PM to 5.30 PM) for the following JAM Test Papers- Economics (EN), Biotechnology (BT), Physics (PH) and Mathematical Statistics (MS)

IIT JAM 2027 will be held on February 14, 2027. The exam will be conducted in two shifts. Each shift will be held for three hours.

In case of any discrepancy in the particulars of the candidate or his/her photograph and signature shown on the IIT JAM admit card, candidates should immediately approach the IIT JAM Help Line between 10.00 A.M. and 5.00 P.M. 

Hence, candidates need not worry about the possibility of not getting allowed inside the exam centre. However, they must follow up with the examination conducting body before the commencement of the admission process.  

Yes it is important to print out IIT JAM admit card as it is the entry pass to the examination hall. You will not be permitted to enter the examination centre without it. 

Students can use IIT JAM answer key to cross check their answers. For this, they need to download JAM response sheet online.

IIT Bombay has released the answer key for all seven papers. Students who appeared for IIT JAM exam must download the answer key for their respective test paper.

IIT JAM 2027 answer key is expected to be released in February 2027.  The authority released the answer key for IIT JAM on the official website. The JAM answer key 2027 will be available for all seven papers.

A score above 75 is considered a good score.  75 marks will help to obtain a rank between 1 and 80. This mark will help to get admission to IIT JAM participating institutes.

IIT JAM total mark is 100. Candidates need to obtain 70+ marks for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). 70+ marks will help to obtain a rank between 1 and 150.

Candidates can check IIT JAM result to know their rank. IIT Kharagpur will release the exam result on March 18, 2027. Candidates will have to use their login credentials to access the IIT JAM result.

Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs): Each programme has its own set of Minimum Educational Qualifications, which specify the essential subjects to be studied during Bachelor's Degree. The MEQs and seat matrix for various programmes at the Admitting Institutes are listed in a consolidated table.

Verification of Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and the Eligibility Requirements (ERs) for admission is the prerogative of the Admitting Institute only and the Organizing Institute will not respond to any queries in this regard.

Below are eligibility criteria required by candidates for filling out IIT JAM 2027 Counselling application form:

• Candidates should have passed an undergraduate degree or should be currently studying in their final year of undergraduate programme. 

• Candidates promoted without a marksheet should produce a certificate stating the subjects studied in that semester/year duly signed by the Head of the Institute.

• Foreign nationals with Indian degree are eligible to apply, subject to policy of the Admitting Institute

The authority will announce the IIT JAM 2027 counselling dates online. Candidates can check the counselling dates to know the schedule for registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting to college.

The authority conducts the IIT JAM exam for 100 marks. The question paper comprises 60 questions. Students need to obtain 75+ marks to qualify for the entrance test.

IIT JAM scores is used for admission to over 2000 seats for postgraduate programmes such as MSc and MA at IISc and various NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET, DIAT through Centralized Counselling for MSc / MSc (Tech.) Admission (CCMN). 
In addition, JAM scores will be used for admission to the four Integrated Ph D Programmes and two MSc Programmes at Indian Institute of Science (IISc). JAM 2025 scores are likely to be used by various other institutes such as Jawaharlal Nehru
Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (IISER Pune), and Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE). Scribes were arranged for those PwD candidates who had requested to be provided with a scribe at the time of application.
Qualification of the scribe arranged by test centre will NOT be more than the minimum eligibility criteria of JAM. However, the qualification of the scribe is be matriculation (10th) or above. If there are Y candidates who require a scribe, it will be ensured that a panel of (Y+1) scribes is available at the exam centre so that every candidate can have an alternative scribe to choose for the services.
