The foremost decision after school was to opt for hospitality management as career choice: Varun Jaggi

Vedatya Institute has been an excellent academic decision for me. Soon after I graduated from school, I had to lock on to a good choice. The first and foremost decision by me was to opt for hospitality management as my career choice. Vedatya being one of the perfect matches for my preferred course choice served all my requirements.

After my entrance exam, I was given a privilege to join this institution under the tag of (PHML) Program in Hospitality and leadership management. I had a rough idea of what I had to face in such an exciting place of learning. However, from the day of orientation, the things were just amazing. My first call was to admire the faculty of the college. In other words, each one of our faculty members looked like perfect industrial experts to me.

The journey started with the first semester which was a mix of practical, theoretical and a learning-oriented environment. We were familiarized with the core departments of our field. Semester 1 was dedicated to the hotel industry and its basics. After a stomach full of learning, we moved to our second semester which was thrilling for me.

Now, the agenda was to understand how hospitality is a bigger dimension or the bigger picture of the hotel industry. The semester was dedicated to indulging in exciting sessions of marketing, finance, human resource management and other intriguing topics. Apart from the core departments, we were actually enlightened about the vastness and the scope of the industry. For students, this semester worked on extra knowledge about subjects like basics of Front-office, Housekeeping as accommodation management. Furthermore, it was an experiential learning experience under the food and beverage basics, accompanied by a vast knowledge of practical and theory of cookery.

The level was clearly rising to train us not merely as employees, but as potential managers in the future. Capturing several topics was more interesting for me all the time!

Apart from the daily hustle of academics, I made some great memories in college events, gatherings. To be precise, our annual event named “Chaupal” was a big experience for me. Turning points for the hostellers included cultural events, Fresher’s party and many more.

All this was also in sync with the sporting activities in our college. In fact, the very day of our orientation started with intriguing physical activities, which not only was fun but also a great way to choose friends for a lifetime. Adding to this, Vedatya was all about personal creativity, but teamwork. Teamwork spirit was always a part of our curriculum, which was focused on creating hospitality leaders.

I do not possess enough words for the admiration of our faculty with some of the most experienced professors, bloomed out from the industry; they always have handpicked information, which is useful for everyone. Also, everyone is always equally involved in all the tasks, irrespective of the nature of the job which makes everything great.

Vedatya has also been an organic farming initiator to bring about change in the minds of people; the same is denoted by our green cover and air quality profile. Covered by genuine statistics, you as a student will always have a reason to choose Vedatya. So far, it has been great and I hope to complete this journey with my heart and soul.

My name is Varun Jaggi. I come from a commerce background and I completed my schooling in 2017. Currently, I am a hospitality management student at Vedatya Institute, Gurguram, pursuing PHML ( Programme is Hospitality Management and Leadership).
