Delhi University increases fee; Development fee up by 50%
DU charges Rs 600 per student per year as development fund contribution
The University of Delhi has decided to hike the Development fee charged from students from next year. The fees has been revised to Rs 900 from Rs 600 charged earlier.
As per an official notification from the Delhi University, the varsity has decided to increase the annual university development fee charged from students due to reduction in capital grants by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
At present, DU charges Rs 600 per student per year as development fund contribution which was implemented from 2012-13, academic year.
As per the DU notification, “Keeping in view the fund requirement as well as government mandate for self sufficiency and reduction of capital grants by UGC (University Grants Commission) as well as for creation of ICT (information and communications) enabled infrastructure, the UDF amount should be revised to Rs 900 per student per year.”
Earlier, the Delhi University constituted a development fund committee to consider allocation of funds for various activities like construction of new buildings, procurement of laboratory equipment and other requirements.
